And how many things have been developed for subscriber bonuses and prizes that took money from the project's development funds? Lots. If the cash shop funds itself, then the people who buy will be the only ones affected.

Simple solution: don't like it? Don't buy it. And hope they don't waste money on creating content that no one is buying and scrap it altogether eventually. Until then, I'm happy with them spending my sub money however they want.

This is for the complete F2P model, not for subscription based games. Don't compare the SWTOR model to FFXIV btw, the SWTOR team does not have nearly enough funding going into producing content for the game compared to FFXIV.

If you must compare it, compare it to WoW. WoW has had their cash shop and real money mounts for ages, I think about the time at the end of WoTLK, I remember the sparkle pony was running around for that expansion as well as Cataclysm.
