I personally would love to see Cúchulainn, Famfrit, Belias and Zodiark (kinda there already).

Cucu and Zodiark yes, the other two were kind of bland IMO.
Oh! Mateus and Ultima would be awesome too, they were my personal favorites.
Yojinbo would be nice
Sure, why not? I would love to see more influence from that style of FFs in general. The world and script of FFXIV feels sort of like "Ivalice Lite" to me anyway. I wish FFXIV's moogles were more like the FFXII/FFTA version, and had been a playable race.
If they want to do more with Primals, they will soon run out of the traditional roster without resorting to lesser-known monsters. The Ivalice espers would probably make for some interesting boss fights.
I don't hate them, but I'd much rather see Fenrir, Diabolos, Siren, etc. in as primals before the Ivalice ones which don't really belong in Eorzea.
Uh, but Fenrir, Diabolos, and Siren are already in FFXIV as it is... What do you want them to do, just give them their own instanced boss fight? Wouldn't it be basically the same as what they already do?
As for which characters/monsters "don't really belong in Eorzea," how do you assess that? Eorzea did not exist before this game came out, it's not like it had an pre-established "lore" to it. What belongs in Eorzea is whatever Square Enix writes into it. For that matter, why do Fenrir, Diabolos and Siren "belong" in the game?
I wouldn't even say the main story was "bad" necessarily, but rather it did a poor job of making me care about what was happening. A lot of the conflict and important events felt distant and disconnected from what the main characters were doing. Many side characters were not developed enough, and this stuff about Rozarria comes in out of nowhere. I couldn't help but feel like if this were an old-school FF game, we'd actually be able to travel to that place.
But yeah, I love FFXII. The combat system was awesome, and to this day all these games that use AI-controlled NPC allies -- I wish I could program their actions via the Gambit system. My only real gripes with FFXII are:
1) Vaan
2) 100% of the gameplay is either combat or talking to people. And although that stuff is cool and all, where are the mini-games?
3) Secrets that are impossible to get without a guide, such as an ultimate weapon that is inaccessible if you happen to open some random treasure boxes at arbitrary points in the game

I realize this is the official forum and everything, but try not to make everything a goddamned argument.Uh, but Fenrir, Diabolos, and Siren are already in FFXIV as it is... It'll only be an argument if you get angry, otherwise it's just chatting with another human being.
As for FFXII summons In FFXIV, I'm all for it, but maybe not as primals. Instanced trials maybe, but I would like to see them introduced as something other than a god being worshipped and summoned by a beast tribe using crystals, etc, etc.
Others have mentioned the seeming connection between them and the Ascians, which could prove to be an interesting take on things.
A true paladin... will sheathe his sword.
Well, the main issue is to HAVE AI-controlled NPC parties. FFX battle system was PERFECT, it was the apex of the ATB system IMHO. Why the need to change? It was because FFXII was made to look like a single-player MMORPG. It drew too many elements from the genre and it wanted to create the idea of you being part of a group of players, instead of being THE group of players, as it were on the previous ones.
That, the necessity to grind levels, the unimportant protagonist. All elements taken from MMOs, Minagawa himself admitted he wanted to do a game that felt like a MMO, since they were the craze at that time. That philosophy sunk the game rock bottom -_-
UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH don't even get me started on that prick. Worst protagonist of a video game EVER.
