Very conflicted about the cash shop...

So, this is about the only thing that I've heard at Fan Fest that I'm actually not liking.

I know that they said "fashion only" but I'm still not okay with that unless all of the items are also obtainable in-game without spending money.

You already get revenue from subscriptions, server transfers, fantasia, and the other merchandise you've been attaching in-game rewards like minions to.

Please handle this with careful consideration.

It's awful but as the saying goes "A fool and his money are soon parted" and you can bet there are a lot of fools. They're losing potential revenue by not doing this and that's what matters in the end.

I don't want this to turn into a situation where they hold back content that would actually be in the game to sell in the cash shop. We are paying monthly for content already. Everything they develop should either be included and available in the patch or part of an expansion. To start withholding content to sell on top of a subscription fee is incredibly distasteful.

I'm not saying it's right, I completely agree with your viewpoint. I'm paying a subscription fee and as such, I expect to have all content available, one way or another. But many don't care about stuff like principles and are more than happy to lay down money for this. And if the demand is there, the company will obviously answer, as sickening as it is.

Maybe if you had any proof of said items shown that would of been obtainable in game then i'd probably agree, but youre going over too much speculation here.

- The Slepinir horn was found in the DB, correct. however there was no stated drop or use for it, now we know its a cash shop item to get said mount as well as a purely cosmetic feature, its not faster in any way.
- The minions are purely cosmetic outside of battle and have no effect on anything
- Event items were once obtainable in game but now are available to those who missed said event, youre probably thinking "well they were and should be exclusive to the event"... My girlfriend did ALL the anniversary quests and events available and didnt get the "Huzzah" Emotion.. So in a way it helps those who didnt get these items for whatever reasons. + again, purely cosmetic.

+ As said in the live letter, it doesn't give ANY advantage to ANY player. they're there purely for cosmetics which is why im defending it, if it had boosts and such then i'd beannoyed due to it being P2P (Pay 2 Play). This kinda system is on ALOT of P2P MMO's, heck i believe in WoW you can buy mounts and stuff to show-off. in most free MMO's its a PW2 (Pay 2 Win) Service which is what breaks them since people buy expensive gems/gear and automatically get high up in the player base for it.

This system works, it helps out SE for all costs across their board (and lets be honest, the items cost less than a fantasia as far as we've seen. £3.50 at most)

If you wanted to complain about anything, why not the extra retainers? i mean cmon, more chances at rare dyes? someone call the fashion police.

If they want to add purely cosmetic extra features to the game for purchase, what's wrong with that? If you like the items in the shop, further support the game with your small purchase and enjoy your item. If you don't like them or don't want to pay for them, play as usual and ignore the shop.

pay to win is solely you have to pay to win. not what you think.

until they sell the best crafter gear and best pve/pvp gear it won't be pay to win.

Here is the kicker, if i want to get back into the game after a break of my choice, my price is the flat sub fee. nothing more, nothing less. If i get some extra cash for a gift and want to spiff up my in game character, then its cool to have that option.

Because that "gift" should be part of the game to begin with. That is what you're paying for.

WoW has been doing it for years, you could really tell how it hurt them. Right? And many of those items actually did have advantages, like the mounts with higher speed/etc.
People will get over it or leave, you can pretend to be entitled and butthurt all day long but at the end of the day they are a business with employees who have families with mouths to feed. If a sector of your business has a potential for profit that can help make up for other departments that are not doing as well at the moment you seize the opportunity. Business 101.

Just because WoW is doing it doesn't mean that it's okay. Look how they said that they didn't have enough resources to do new mounts but apparently have enough resources to still throw new mounts in the cash shop.

That sort of thing is just completely disrespectful to your fans. It's honestly sickening.
