I knew that that all the money that was put into FFXIV would come back to me in some form of content or maintanance, now it doesn't, because there is content created with my money that is gated behind a cash shop. I am getting less for the same price I was paying before, it's that simple. If they wanted more money so badly I'd actually wish they'd sell Coil runs and the likes, at least everybody's still getting the same amount of content. Wether you want to spend 2 months of fees wiping to Coil or getting carried by paying roughly the same price for aguemented high allagan gear it's just prioritizing your time, Coil will still be the same for everyone. With vanity items, you either buy it ot you can't have it. Content is different depeding on the amount of money you shell out.

You should all boycott this, but instead you'll all pay in and encourage them to move more content to individual charges.

A few will, but most will cave to peer pressure, plus this is the generation that isnt used to going without, and they rather sell their souls than be the only one that doesnt have <insert shiny new trivial thing with no real value>. People today have no idea what it means to sacrifice, hence why credit card debt is at an all time high.

phantasia, mounts, and minions have no effect to gameplay at all.

Thing is, SE will start with only "cosmetic" things to get people used to the idea of buying stuff.... then they'll start slipping in other things that do affect gameplay once they see just how much money they can make by doing so.

The start of this is just to get the door opened to future things.... and dont you think for one second they wont sell anything they can to make a buck.

Cause this was a B2P game with no constant income right? Funny how suddenly sub fees are no longer enough for MMOs when they have been for years. They make plenty off this MMO to keep it active, as like any MMO that keeps a healthy sub base. Your not constantly paying for that movie ticket, or constantly paying for that airplane beer. They create this content with the money we've already paid them.

When they released the additional payment for retainers most people accepted thinking it was worth it. They could have just added more bag space, but since you agree to pay they saw there was a market there. People were willing to pay more than monthly subscription for that additional bonus.

Now they are introducing vanity in their shop and you are complaining but people will buy it because they dont care about paying more for things that should be in the game they are paying monthly. In the future nothing will stop them to add experience boost, instant level 50, faster mounts, gear, bag space in their cash shop, because those people who accepted to pay for addition sub for their retainers will be willing to pay for that bonus. They now have the double space most poeple have to sell their things with those 2 additional retainers. In my opinion thats not fair, but those who will buy their vanity thinking it wont change anything in the game, it doesnt matter. (next post)

I personally feel ok with this. I support what they do and feel like they deserve more money, especially if it enables them to hire more staff and produce a larger amount of in-game content at a faster rate and buy more servers for a smoother game experience.

Those who are not willing to pay more for it will be left behind in some way, because some of them care a lot about vanity here and they shouldnt need to pay more to have it.

Step by step this game is getting closer to the Guild Wars model. But there we dont pay 15 dollars monthly and we knew additional content would be sold for real money since beggining.

There is no excuse for a sucess game like FFXIV introducing a cash shop but being greedy with their loyal fans. Instead of adding that cash shop from beggining (they would lose lots of players there) they made you get loyal to the game after spending hundreds of hours here. And now that you wont leave the game because you spend plenty of your real life time here they introduce this new shop. In my opinion its a very cheap and smart way to get easy money.

Addict first then make more money on them later. SE new business model.

Do you not understand that we pay a monthly subscription for the content in the game already? There is NO reason to pay $15 a month if they are going to hold back content in favor of selling it for extra cash.
