Cash shop confirmed

As long as they don't do what Anet did and have everything RNG based and only new skins/vanity coming out on the cash shop I'm fine. Having it available in game and via cash shop would be great, don't want to pay then just farm for it, too lazy to farm just buy it. Anet's gem store really killed GW2 for me if you want any new hair styles or armour skins better give them £8+ (£8 for a single skin, yeah...)

Well, the saints wake event started and guess what? Last years costume is not in the shop, they wont put things in the shop that are currently available in game and, instead of making stuff available for a second year like they did in past events they will just add them to the cash shop from now on.

I hope you all got those summer bathsuits and bomb earrings, it's the last time you will get them for free.

what past events? the only other real game event we had that repeated was moonfire and that didnt have the same things as last time..the others that repeteat are the collaborations which are supposed to be the same

I don't think anyone wants the same event every year, but they running for 1+1 year (second year = something new + first year stuff, third year something new + second year stuff) was not a bad idea.

Moonfire didn't have exactly everything the same but it did have many returning items, and while the collabs were meant to be repeats, they still count, now you wont see something like that happen again because they can just add it to the cash shop.

lastly....i dont see anywhere a 50 page thread with ppl complaining about that CE goodies, the moogle outfit, wind-up bahamut etc that YOU CANT GET INGAME without buying em with real money

The moogle outfit had its fair amount of complains, CE stuff and soundtrack stuff are older so you might have to dig way to the past to see if anyone complained about that, though people most likely did.

It's perfectly okay if many of you don't really care about vanity, but don't think your views are shared with every single person here, for me vanity is worth more than progression, vanity stays there forever and can be reused many times while stats get outdated every few months, vanity is a form of horizontal content that is now being gated behind a cash wall, I kinda wish they did the same with vertical progress just so you could see it as we see it.

Think you can get those from the salvagers, you get the bomb earrings from the moogles (you can also get the slime, dodo and catuar ones there and I didn't even unlock those in the event) so they are still there. The salvagers don't have the valentine, halloween and christmas stuff available which I find a bit weird.

Have the explicitly said that all past event items will be available in the shop?

I think this might kill the game for me. I dont care much for better gear they will be obsolete in a couple of months anyway. But trying to collect all the vanity stuff is my way of playing. And if there will be less craftable vanity gear that means i will be finished with the patches quicker and then Ill just have nothing to do til they add new stuff. I like working for my vanity gear I dont just wanna buy it and plopp its in my inventory

You can't get items of events that you did not participate on/complete, that's why you don't see the valentine, halloween and christmas stuff. Slime, dodo, cactuar and bomb earring are there because they aren't from an in-game event, but a reward from the Titan and Levi events of the TGS and everyone on all servers got them.

Or maybe they've taken them away to put them in the cash shop, who knows. I'll have to check later.

They should sell level 50 characters and gil too! Since spending money means you earned it right? Who needs to do coil either! They should sell the raid gear, you went to work, you earned it!

The money from the cash shop will go more items for the cash shop. It will not go into further game development, look who's being delusional.

Do you even have any grasp of business ? Like, do you seriously think that the Square Enix will just cover the development cost of the item then spend the rest developing new items to sell ? The profit margin on vanity items is ridiculously high. Let's look at an example, the Sleipnir mount since we know that it will be there :

• Let's say that the price for it will be 10$ which is highly unlikely as in my opinion it will be higher (WoW mounts sells like crazy at 25$ a pop) but let's put numbers on your side.

• Let's say that about 1%(low estimate, more like 2-4% due to the hype if not more) of the 500,000+ players who login will buy the mount when it gets released. That makes 5000 players.

• Now that makes 50,000$ which is a terribly low estimate. 50,000$ (which will more than cover for the cost and bring a profit past this point) for a mount if we're talking low numbers. If you want to talk high numbers, 2% of the 500,000+ at 15$ the mount, we're talking 150,000$.

Now, do you really think they will throw the whole 50,000$-150,000$ from a single item coming from the shop into developing multiple other items ? If you answer yes, then you really don't understand this works. There is such a thing as a limit to what people can buy so it's better to let them buy a few items, enjoy them for awhile then hype some new ones later. A lot of these funds will go to other parts of the game and I'd warrant to say other projects for Square Enix.
