They DID IT! <3
So that's how you justify the concern? Fear that they're lying? And as I said a page ago, vanity drama? Who cares if they bring it back so that more people can enjoy the little quest and get the vanity gear?I remember that Lightning Fate, with that unique, never-again hairstyle, weapon and outfit you could get. They said that would be the ONLY time we'd be able to get that stuff... aside from, you know, that OTHER time, when they brought back the whole event just recently.
Oh, they also said that Personal and FC housing would be separate and that Personal housing would be a lot more affordable.
You really shouldn't believe everything they say at this point without doubt. At any point in the future, they can go and say we "misinterpreted" what they said before. Worked fine with housing.
The housing -is- a lot more affordable now than when it first came out as well. I can pull up the patch notes if you want, or you could do it yourself, but it'll get cheaper still once the prices go down. Assuming people don't buy them up immediately because they are so affordable. If you think about it logically though, they already have innrooms, housing, and then personal rooms in the housing; why do they need to create another specific section for housing? Their concerns for dataspace is not unfounded. Down the road, it might be more feasible, but for now, the Dev. Team is working way overtime to try and catch this game up, so if they misrepresent something, I think they can be cut a little slack.
Should probably stop ignorantly judging people that support their Dev. Team just because you think you can see the future.Fans of this development team will believe anything that Yoshi-P says. 6 months down the road when they're paying 15 bucks a month subscription and having to pay to get into dungeons they'll still be like "if you don't like it don't buy it" "yoshi-p for president" "don't let the door hit you on the way out!"

And tell me even one P2P game that went this direction? Trying to give out points against you who are against this is like speaking to religious people, gosh. Whatever, I will keep playing this game, maybe even buy the mount cause I didn't buy CE. You can't keep crying about minor things instead of enjoying the game, peace.Fans of this development team will believe anything that Yoshi-P says. 6 months down the road when they're paying 15 bucks a month subscription and having to pay to get into dungeons they'll still be like "if you don't like it don't buy it" "yoshi-p for president" "don't let the door hit you on the way out!"
Problem is that I've heard pretty much the same speech from other games that went Pay 2 Win and they are already selling retainers as a premium service which gives crafters a significant advantage on the mb. To a lot of developers, if they aren't selling the absolute best gear in the game then they don't consider the cash shop P2W. Also, "concepts" are always subject to change at the whim of the developer."The concept is never pay to win, all vanity and largely from previously available content." -taken from Letter from the Producer LIVE at Fanfest transcript.

I really hope they stick to their guns on that point but keep in mind that even Yoshi-P has told us several things and then did other things (housing prices for example). I have faith in them, I'm just skeptical based on my own past experiences.
Because they announced it, and claimed they had been "working on it" for months. Do you really believe it took them months to change it to "everyone can buy" from "only FC leader can buy"?
Make up your mind, you either believe everything they say, or you don't. I don't have any issue whatsoever with the Lightning fate coming back - but it shows they were flat out lying when they previously stated it would never come back. They have lied in the past, it is up to you to decide whether you want to be 100% gullible and believe them completely every time they say something or take it with a grain of salt.
Do I have to be 100% either way or can I have some freedom of thought? Make up your mind/ You don't mind them bringing back the Lightning thing, but its significant enough of a lie to base the future of the game off of? HokayBecause they announced it, and claimed they had been "working on it" for months. Do you really believe it took them months to change it to "everyone can buy" from "only FC leader can buy"?

@DoctorPepper While there may be the possibility down the road, I don't see it happening anytime soon. XI has been going on for over a decade on the subscription model, and Yoshi himself has take up the defense of that model as well, so I'll believe when they say, "No Pay to Win," for now.
@Riepah More like, Cash Shop = Buying decals for your car.
Paying the subscrition = "The fuel you ordered and paid for is ready!"
Cash Shop = "But if you want it you have to pay us again"
I don't understand how people think anything going into the cash shop is "extra." How do you distinguish a minion or mount that is, and always was, intended as an outside cash shop item, versus one which could have been earned in-game from a quest, dungeon drop, of FATE?
Do you think the devs at Square Enix devote their main working hours only to "essential" game content, and then all the cash shop items are personal hobby projects they design in their spare time? It is all just game content, guys. There is no "essential" versus "extra." Square Enix is not working harder, churning out more items, to compensate for the cash shop's inventory. The only "extra" involved is the extra money they now expect you to pay for it.
A week or two ago, you would have seen that Sleipnir mount and thought "Wow, awesome! Finally, maybe we can do the Odin FATE and win his mount!" You would have looked at the Pumpkin Head hat, and assumed it would be part of a Hallowe'en-themed holiday event quest or bought from an NPC vendor in town for a few gil. You would have seen the Y'shtola, Papalymo, and Yda minions and assumed you could get them similarly to how you got the Minfillia and Thancred ones. But now that you know a cash shop is coming, you're suddenly so sure that these are all "extra" vanity things that were never meant to be in the game anyway, and that the base game is not lacking for anything because of it.
"Just play the game as you normally would, and don't buy from the cash shop if you don't like it." Unfortunately, that is not how it works. How I normally would enjoy the game is to pay my sub and have access to any content that came out. Now, an increasing amount of items are being stripped from the main experience and sold off for extra money. My subscription dollars are literally buying less content than I used to get. It is harming the game, whether I participate in the cash shop or not.
That's funny, I had no idea that all the minions, mounts, and unique gear skins in the game so far were actually just "free gas" provided by Square Enix, out of the goodness of their hearts. I was under the impression that content like that was included in my monthly subscription fees all this time -- or at least, it sure seemed to be, and the devs never made any claim otherwise. I had no idea that these things were merely extra gifts, and not really part of the game I bought and paid for. It's a good thing we have people like you who can discern these things for us, so that we can all be educated. I wonder why nobody ever mentioned this fact before the cash shop was announced, though..??
