And also i'd say that your wish comes way too late. the regions are almost quiet finished for the first Addon as you can see in this ingame video here for "Heavensward":

You can make it rather good fantasy like with a naturalistic as people say setup.Think the Odin weather really showes that effect great. Such small details but as permanent effects in the game could work.

More fantasty strokes & touches could go a long way.

Even the Heavensward promotional art looks earthy. It looks nice but doesn't feel very FF.

Will have to see it live but more unique fantasy touches outside of Crystals would go a long way.

For instance, more crazy flora & fauna... Lost City of Amdapor did a great job of feeling extremely FF in its aesthetic.

The floating lilypads, the spores, the pollen, the creatures... it had the whole package.

The final boss room reminded me a lot of FF9 too.

Lost City is a great example.

If we had some over-world areas of this fantasy-caliber, it would be awesome.

Again, sure we have crystals all over the place but that's close to it for fantasy elements.

Sure some plants are different & architecture/creatures count for something.

But plenty could be done between flora/fauna/weather/etc.

Promyvion in FFXI is really cool.

Yeah I really liked the empty feeling of promyvion (get it??). No seriously, though, the music and the atmosphere was top notch.
