Is FFXIV up against the clock?

This is not the real question. People will play when it's good enough. The question is when.
I don't want them to release stuff faster, or perfect new content. I just want the fixes and new content to be free of error, at the very least, because frankly there's hardly any room for trial and error with the game in its current state. What is this game going to be if so many new problems and issues are introduced with every new patch? I still support the game, I really respect those who still play and give constructive feedback, but I can't help feeling that we have been treading water this whole time. But then again one of the dev just said that they are reworking the game data structure from the ground up, we'll see.

Diablo 3 is going to hurt WoW, its also going to cause 1000's of people to be fired from their jobs. I can def see it making a big impact on XIV for the short term after release but fortunately about D3 is people will only last a few months before getting bored of it.

Oh boy I can't wait to pay Bobby Kotick my real life money so I can buy virtual Stone of Jordans' in Diablo III's AH.

A christmas release date of the PS3 version is a little optimistic right now. At release I was thinking 6-12 months to get the game fixed up... it's getting there but I guess I was wrong.

Anyways I think this game has a little more time. SE already has a monkey on their back over this release and if they let it fail, it isn't off of them until they release a successful MMO (which they might not try). Final Fantasy for better or worse is squenix's flagship. They'd lose big time if they were to let it end as a failure.
