It's possible, but I don't think they'd go that far. If they did, they would have directly mentioned it during the Live Letter, so that players wouldn't be confused. Yoshi-P has always been about telling more than he should, and doing so in great detail. He wouldn't have skimped on the details.

I think the main problem people are having right now, is the fact that they simply can't get beyond the flavor text tooltip explanation for DEX in game. "It says DEX affects Ranged Attacks, therefore it must be so." This is a very erroneous way of thinking, especially when the details of how exactly attack formulas in game work have not been fully realized by the players.

Is attack and ranged attack values tied strictly to weapons or is it tied to the Attack Power stat (or tied to the STR and DEX values by way of the Attack Power stat)? We really don't know. Knowing this, it's easy to fall into the trap of believing that Ninja is STR based, because all physical attack classes *should* be STR based, by way of flavor text tooltip explanation. Flavor text however is VERY easy to change in accordance to a change in stats or new formulae addition, so it's a much smaller deal than people are making it right now.

It's just silly to see Yoshi-P right out say DEX is the main stat for Ninja, then have players here say he's wrong and that it's STR (or even some STR to DEX conversion deal, ala Cleric Stance). Him being the Director of the game and privy to information that we do not know.
