NIN will use monk gear, as in using STR gear, the rest is just a joke to remind us how we liked to argue about STR vs DEX.

Anyway, we'll find out next week!

With 2.4, NIN will get its own gear. It would be easier just to put Dex on mnk gear for dated material instead of giving all gear for older content.

I suspect that pretty much all non-AF/single class ROG/NIN left side gear will be shared with PUG/MNK just like how CON/WHM shares with SCH and THM/BLM shares with ARC/SMN.

Yeah I dunno either, But I'll wait to see the patch notes to determine that, I'm just showing how it'd be possible if it wasn't a joke. Along with the reasoning why they'd choose that option. Being DEX on MNK equipment or being a joke and just being STR, doesn't do anything to me since I have Monk gear plus all the unique DOW dungeon gear anyway.

I've always been pretty much neutral about this. It COULD be DEX because the game let's that choice be easy to do, but it could easily be STR because that's just as easy if not easier to do.

Nothing baffling about it. The Ninja Attack Power calculation will use Dex in the formula rather then Str. Since every attack flows from Attack Power it's a simple thing to understand.

As per the gear, it's as simple as most pre-50 DoW gear has both Str and Dex on it. They are just going to apply to all this methodology level 50 MNK gear, in existence during the current patch, that isn't uniquely locked to Monk, like it's artifact gear. Starting in 2.4 NIN will have it's own gear that only has Dex on it.

It's really that simple.

Don't be surprised if NIN/MNK share all non-AF(aka "generic") left side gear from now on so that random drops on non-weapons don't get to crazy. Future classes will also likely share "generic" gear with the existing classes.

They said it would be easy gear wise to go from other melee to Ninja, so it will at least use STR accesories.

Yes, because them clearly saying it will be DEX wasn't a confirmation... They weren't looking us in the eye when they said it! They were still in a laughing/amused state because of the previous joke of Monk gear being hinted at and Koji Fox making a joke about the OBVIOUS FIST hint getting confused as White Mage. How much more clear could the Ninja being DEX based could they make it? They stated it clearly it will be DEX, how it will work with MNK gear is up to them but how you people are still making conspiracy theories over this is beyond me.
