Config File?

Question: is there a config file where all my macros , hotbar layout is stored?

Im going to reformat my Rig

It is usually located in the Documents/My Games/Final Fantasy XIV Realm Reborn folder. The folder you are looking for is the one with a bunch of numbers.

Open your launcher, click on Config below, and then Backup :P You'll be able to save a file where all that will be stored, and then you'll just have to follow the same steps to load it again once you reformat.

C:\Users\*usernamehere*\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn\

That folder holds general game settings and saved character appearances, and then in the FFXIV_CHR*biglongnumber* folders you'll find the individual character settings/hotbars/macros.

I did not know about this, i guess thats a little bit easier. Ill definately use this should the need to format my PC arises. Thanks Yshnal.

No problem

It's pretty useful too if you want to experiment with different UI layouts, so you can restore it quickly or save a couple of configs.
