If Crafting is a Support role why do stats affect it?

Can someone please point me to where anyone from the dev team ever said that crafters were getting nuked down to non-class status? All Yoshi ever said was that crafters support battle classes, which is (and always was) 100% true. We make all their junk. Support =/= less important or lesser status. As far as I know, crafters will still be classes further down the line, unless someone can produce an actual quote/statement from someone from development that specifically states otherwise. I mean either I have somehow completely missed a bombshell announcement or people are completely misinterpreting a statement that was made a while back and are now propagating a rumor that is going to result in nothing more than rage. Both for crafters now and anti-crafters later when they find out it wasn't true.

EDIT: also, what does it matter? Physical levels will be going away making every class have its own stats. Your problem will be a non-issue in a few weeks.
