Notice that it's not a CGI trailer? Teasers can be in any format, so he is not incorrect in saying that there would be more excitement to see something actual in-game in the teaser which yes, for some people, seeing in-game is important to get excited, believe it or not.
That video went up only a few weeks before WOTG released. I expect once we get closer to the expansion we'll see a number of trailers using in-game footage.
