they won't get rid of class system...
Yoshi mentioned recently, that they won't make any big changes, cause it would be confusing, if they revamped the whole system.
3.0 is expansion, 2.1-2.5 are just patches. and it's not likely to be any 2.6.
2.5 will probably be in feb, and 3.0 in may.
could be boss in new raid. but probably they will continuously expand the new raid, like with coil, so Shinryu will probably be last boss before 4.0.
going to be many more nin, than drg; though i guess the trailer will make drg more interesting, to some folks.
no, why would we? that would make ppl quit.
that's not dat mining, it's picture from Sokens computer. maybe he just made some music for domans, that sounds sam:ish. but sam job would be nice.
i don't think that's what it's about...you go to lancer guild, learn to use a spear, then you use those skills to become drg.
and since they have branching jobs, both SMN/SCH share ACN skills. if they didn't have classes, they would need to add 16 new skills to both SMN and SCH, or split acn skills/add skills to SMN/SCH, and any other *branching jobs* But in short, they'd need 16 skills/job. (well maybe close 30 with class+job skills, to lv 60)
but any job that use spear/lance, would use lancer skills; it doesn't make sense that you'd need to lv the jobs, seperate.
Jobs unlock skills through soul stones, but it doesn't provide you with knowledge about how to use a spear; the LNC guild, does.
that would be nin relic in that case. for everything else, rog/nin, will use same weps.
they aren't dawdling the expansionit's not finished, and takes a long time to do all the new content. they are following a schedule, so they need to follow the 3 month cycle. They can't just quickly add 2.5, and then shortly after, 3.0.
gld->drk doesn't sound plausible, unless they revamp gld. drk would be to OP, with all the defensive buffs, if it's meant to be a DD.
there's 6 months to expansion, so there's room for 2.5, in Feb. It will finish up CT, like 2.4 will finish up Coil.
i know a lot of ppl hate it, but i don't really mind it, except that it would be nice if you could use any wep you want, with any job.
would be cool if classes were still tied to weps, but depending on what wep you use, the job will be different. So you could be LNC->PLD, and be more of a DD oriented *holy avenger* than tank.
I wasn't saying they were dawdling I was saying they need to avoid doing so. The xpac is on it's own timeline that should be more or less independent of the current patch cycle. Considering the patches have each been a little more than 3 months apart it would probably be best if the xpac was not that far away from 2.5 (likely first week of Februaryish). Mid-April is not a bad target, but if it's finished before then I can't see an incentive to wait on releasing it.
Classes should be removed and replaced by a generic "Freelancer".
Class names should have just been titles auto generated for how you spec your Freelancer.
That way, classes can still end at 30, and midgame jobs open up as they do currently.
But with the Freelancer tag, the stranglehold Classes are having on holding Jobs back can be done away with
IMO, big class/job changes keep the game fresh. Similar to how WoW removed talent trees, or SWTOR's changes last year and removing talent trees this year.
Don't take it personal or even bother - He does nothing but personally attack people (and somehow not banned for it) when you dare say anything other than ARR is perfect. Every topic that has anything with "negative" feedback he comes in and attacks them.
Know the funny part? While NPCs must also have a class tagged to them (even if it does nothing) there's an 'Adventurer' class which is the 'unarmed' class - So if they truly wanted to, they could make the switch to that unarmed class and it be kind of like XI of sorts where weapons doesn't completely define you (since jobs could use multiple in that game) but more so the soulstone + weapon. So as 'Freelancer' you could use most basic skills (cross class etc) but can't really "specialize" or gain traits that specializes in anything.

If you don't like reading what I have to say, put me on the blacklist, I don't even know you. I'm voicing my opinion just like everyone else's. Some people think the class system is horrible, but I actually like getting a class to 30 and then getting a job stone to upgrade it, so we have two storylines and two mentors, I like the distinction between a fighting art that everyone in Eorzea can sign up to learn and the ancient or lost arts that are the traditional FF jobs (makes them feel more important and above all, which I find a nice homage to the series) and if they ever decide to start branching classes into different jobs, the idea of specializing in different styles starting from the same class (like a possible Geomancer job opposite to White Mage) would make me very happy. Stop I'm assuming I'm here to troll. Guess what? I love giving positive feedbacks to the devs and think they'd wanna read it as much as all negative ones (that are far outweight them). I am playing this game because I love it and love to the states the reasons why I do.
Thanks. I read somewhere that they wanted to stop focusing on the primals but with the news that they're putting new ones in the exp I have nothing to worry about.
You mean equipping the PLD stone to your LNC?i know a lot of ppl hate it, but i don't really mind it, except that it would be nice if you could use any wep you want, with any job.
would be cool if classes were still tied to weps, but depending on what wep you use, the job will be different. So you could be LNC->PLD, and be more of a DD oriented *holy avenger* than tank.
I don't think the class system is horrible, I just don't think it's needed. In FFXIV 1.0 there were only classes, no Jobs. Then Yoshi-P enters and adds jobs ( because he knows most fans like the job system, but with the class system in place he really could just simply drop it, so they added Job Stones).
Notices Yoshi-P never says "new classes", he only says Jobs. Which can be taken in 2 ways:
1) Drop of the class system and use strictly Jobs ( would make things easier, and besides I rarely see anyone using their class now in days, only jobs, so dropping the class system wouldn't do any harm really.
2) Adding jobs to existing classes
Personally, I see the class system as a pointless system, but it doesn't bother me either as it doesn't affect my gameplay. I do think however that the class system ( outside of cross skilling with other classes * That happens to be very limited as it is anyways*) doesn't really do anything for the game as it is, best to remove it so it's one less objective to do when making Jobs.
