Yeah, the way i see it 2.5 releasing around February and then the expac around Mid-april/May would be my guess.

but they announced stuff in 1.23 to have it scrapped in 2.0Also I seriously doubt SE would scrap the Armoury System completely - not only would that require the entire game's battle system to be rebuilt from the ground up, a little common sense is required here. A new class has just been announced (Rogue), with another class long stated as being introduced as well (Musketeer). They're not going to announce all that just to then scrap it a few months later. No, classes are here to stay, they're not being replaced/phased out.
Next week will be the exciting announcements for me hopefully. SAM and DRK are great but there has to be Musketeer included too surely? Here's hoping.
They are not going to just get rid of the class system, because of arcanist>smn/sch, not because of "ffxi hate" as you say. The class system has no purpose in ARR, and if it wasn't because of ACN they could just remove classes or make an advanced class system, leaving the system as is but without an useless remnant.
The class system, not the armory system, lost its purpose when they decided to limit the cross class skills we could equip, unlike in 1.0 where the idea was making your own jobs crossing skills and traits freely, as you can see we can just keep the armory system without the useless class system, and this would even help the servers, because it would alleviate the amount of saved data.
Again, we still have the problem of ACN...
Yeah well, anyone with experience in these forum can anticipate you obvious response....

I like the class system and hope it stays.
one of those are going to be a tank , because after NIN , FFXIV have 4 DoW DPS and only 2 DoM.
Tank healer + 2 DoM is my bet
I really enjoyed the class system of v1, but since ARR it sucks big time. Now, it's a mere step leading to jobs.
I find it a shame that the dev had the audacity to demolish working systems of v1 like that.
However, if it's the decision they've diced to take, better get rid of it than leaving it as it is now -- a disappointing reminder of something better.
Furthermore, with the new zones being much larger than the current ones, I hope they'll also open up the current ones too. Removal of ALL invisible walls (except zone borders) is definitely needed.
May I request a tweak on jumping as well? It's currently a two speed jumping system, why not make it possible to have a directional jump from an standing position? It would help make small corrective jumps to access places more easily AND it's also more natural, fashionable, sexy, etc.
Finally, I hope that they add more complexity to the game (complexity doesn't mean more mindless grind!!).
LOL cash shop! SE's way to tell their player how they appreciate them... pull the carrot and empty your pockets $$$
And to those who support it: you are kicking yourselves. -- We just need to sit back and laugh at people with cash shop items.
(Marvelous economics IQ test!)
I really wish they'd actually go ahead and give each class considerably more mechanics-granting traits than they currently have and have the switch to jobs be about as much sacrifice as gain, leaving classes viable and much more customizable. Jobs should basically be one of potentially many tried-and-proven, and highly iconic, route of a given class (or, use of a particular weapon / weapon style). Of course, that's unlikely to have much effect until we each actually have multiple primary stats (beyond power-health) and real gearing choices.
