Are relic weapons ever going to be useful?

But your doing the same thing to an extreme level. You have to do old dungeons over and over. And then 1 patch later is replaced by a superior weapon. While the same happens to the coil gear, it's still less of a pain. Cause I am not doing normal satasha for my best weapon.

exactly. the very extreme, just for a few extra points in acc? dex? If i do all of that grinding to get novus, nexus, whatever, My weapon better have the ability to talk, cast cure automatically if my health is low, hell i should be able to send IT on a venture alone. Its too much work for slightly better stats. Its like telling someone ok, im going to make you manager but pay you only 1 dollar more per hour, but the assistant manager is making only 25 cents less than you, but you are doing triple the work. But hey you get the company car, which is a lamborghini, but their company car is a ferrari....lol

And your still missing the POINT. For players like myself who hate the endgame crowd, we only have the relic quest to get non-tome purchased weapons. Also, Coil is NOT open to everyone ....Why?? Becasue coil has no SOLO mode to it. If play you solo, Coil means nothing to you. Next point: I'll always have a weapon to upgrade, Coil weapons dont upgrade. And you still may NEVER got a weapon from turn ??? Have a good Jinrya

Perhaps, it really depends on how many more relic upgrades there are going to be. It is quite possible the next step will only take it to i130. What's rather amusing though is how the Relic already is better than several of the Augmented Ironworks weapons (even given the 5 ilevel difference). Assuming of course you put proper stats on it.

Let the coil heads continue with their elitism. Seriously listening to them gets so old. Enjoy your relic. Clearing coil or the extremes is more a function of the particular group you're with than that specific weapon you're carrying. It's just elitist propaganda and for the most part those claiming the T13 weapons are the where with all probably don't even have one themselves. Oddly enough in my circle just about all my coil friends are doing both.

The truth is, both the dreadwyrm and the current relic will be replaced with something better eventually. There is no point arguing which is not worth the effort because that's entirely up to the person to decide what is worth their time or not.

If you like coil, then do coil and get your dreadwrym. If you like relic, pick one up and grind it out. If you don't like coil or relic, then IDK I guess pick up a tombstomb weapon and think about how to spend the large amount of time you supposedly saved.

As long as the relic weapon lacks anything, aside from how it looks, that sets it apart from other possible weapons that one can get the relic will only serve the point of content. At such time when SE starts giving the weapons special bonuses or procs that set them apart from the weapons one can get from primals or with tomes, that is when the relics will be come useful.

Step 1 - On the new server, just obtaining this weapon was a huge pain and very few could actually pull it off when they hit 50.

Where I 'snipped' is where I rage quit and unsubbed. That initial line of relic quests gets you all stoked that the relic weapon will be yours shortly... Then, the dude takes your pre-relic weapon away from you (WTF?!) and tells you to take a hike and grind your ass off for several more weeks and then come back and talk to him with your spoils. I was required to go grind dungeons that I was in no way geared for yet. Again, WTF?

This pissed me off so much I cancelled my sub. FFXIV has a real bad habit of stringing you along on a quest line and then telling you to go screw for a week of grinding and then come back. Piss poor quest layout, that's for sure.

Why not just get a soldiery weapon in the meantime?
Relic has done it's share of annoyance for me as well but i would not cancel sub over an issue with a non bis weapon
For new players to 50 it is far more feasible to just get a soldiery weapon so that they may join in groups for end game content
