    Koenig & Ares Make Their Return! Will We See More?

    Coming with 2.4 we will see the return of FFXI's Koenig and Ares gear sets! Very exciting to see but I was disappointed to see there were no mage equivalents of old FFXI gear. Will we be seeing more FFXI gear set additions in the future?

    I'd personally love to see the Zenith/Dalmatica, Igqira, Nashira, Marduk etc. make a reappearance as well.

    To the community: Are there any gear sets you'd like to see remastered in FFXIV?

    Yes, please. Currently SE is going horrible job designing gear, especially end-game sets. I mean even dungean gear looks better and more stylish than allagan or tomestone gear. I wish they would make Koenig, Ares and other sets new AF II or raid drops and not what we have now (think about clown set fiasco and stuff). So, yeah, since they can't design good looking gear I wish they would just copy FFXI sets, they were great and we need more of them! ^_^

    Assuming they ever give us a proper red mage, I wouldn't mind them porting over the RDM AF set over to FFXIV. The free company guys have outfits based on it, so it wouldn't even be that much of a stretch.

    By the way, we do have an "Ares" set in the game. It was localized as the Divine War set to us, but in the JP client that set is the Ares set, so I'm curious to see what they'll call it here. Or will they pull a Phlegethon/Acheron?

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
    * Design ideas:
    Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)

    I mentioned this in another thread but I'd like to see the haubergeon or hauberk make a return, as well as the homam set.

    @Nahaara: It's safe to say the Koenig is GLA/PLD/MRD/WAR and the Ares is LNC/DRG. Koenig in FFXI was for WAR/PLD and Ares was for WAR/PLD/DRG/DRK.

    @Duelle: Didn't know that! They better retcon that haha. Granted they may name these two sets something new and just use their image.

    Yeah, that makes sense.
