Sounds great. Coil 2 is fun, if more people get to experience it the more fun we'll all have.
Use a single-player game as an example...then explain how you can't do things like a single player game. Post of the year right here.
"You can do it." "It's not for you, you can't do it."
You can't be serious. Read everything you wrote and realize why it doesn't make any sense.
As far as developer time...obviously they felt they had the time. This isn't a debate, they're doing it. If it's database driven, this won't take that long to implement, but I don't pretend to know. Either way, it's not that serious of a commitment. There is actually no good argument about why this should not exist. The story was not the fucking reward, stop kidding yourself. The reward was the gear, which this won't have. It doesn't affect me as a raider in any way, shape or form. Stop pretending it does for you, no one's impressed.
Except those who say that are the vocal minority of a already minority group (hardcores who complete Coil content before echo). It's the vicious cycle of continuously bringing the topic up and beating it down like the dead horse it already is that causes it to submerge time and time again. A.k.a: you're crying over spilled milk that's already crusted, stained, and recolored the ground it's been on for months. Get over it.In before countless pages of elitist "i'm better then you, coil isnt even hard, lol" posts.
A story mode with no loot wouldn't harm anyone and the story of coil is something that even the casual RPers should see. The only benefit the casual players would gain is getting to see the story of coil.
On-topic: I'm excited for the implementation, but not for myself. I have plenty of casuals in my Free Company who would gladly take this over the hardcore route, and they're so adamant on not knowing the story already that I'm 100% sure their eyes are going to bulge from their sockets once they see [insert spoiler] in the latest 2.4 trailer. I can't wait to see their reaction xD
Those are all bad analogies. Ffxiv is both an mmo and a numbered game, meaning it's in the main series. You've never had to do hardcore things to get the full story. The weapons are like full Coil raiding; challenges for the most dedicated players, but not necessary to play the full story.
It's SIDE story, not related to the plot. It has a story of its own. Those are all bad analogies. Ffxiv is both an mmo and a numbered game, meaning it's in the main series. You've never had to do hardcore things to get the full story. The weapons are like full Coil raiding; challenges for the most dedicated players, but not necessary to play the full story.
Like I said I dont mind having a "story mode" implemented, just not at the same time the content is released. Its like showing the preview of a season finale in the very first episode of a serie :S
And forgive me if I make bad analogy, at least I went tru the trouble of clearing this.
You just made another bad analogy.
I'm stoked, I play FF for the story. MMO's for the people. now I get story and people!
I've never needed pixels given from "hardcore" raiding to feel a sense of achievement. I'm confused why anyone would be against this, even if they released story mode alongside newly released content.
Aren't you raiders only worried about finish times and gear? I didn't think you guys even read story text or watched cutscenes.
If they gain no loot, I don't see the harm. That's IF they tie Bahamut with the storyline in the future. If they don't plan to, then they don't need to make a storyline. There is Youtube for that anyways
