I've been playing since the first alpha tests. The only changes to anima have been

    1) a reduction in cost from 10 anima per port, regardless of location (changed during early beta), to the 6 out of current region/4 in current region.
    2) Reduction in time to regenerate a single anima from 6hrs/anima to 4hrs/anima
    3) Addition of the 3 'favored location' choices to reduce by half for those 3 choices from the 6/4 and the reduction in City port costs to half of the 6/4 amount.

Those are the only changes they've made. Outside of that they've been adamant about it staying where it's at.

No, the answer is not "Well, SE should be generating content faster instead of using anima as a crutch to slow player progression." One only needs to look back to October of 2010 to see what happens when SE rushes something, and they can see right now the new life that 1.18 is breathing into the game as an example of what happens when SE takes the extra time to make sure things are done properly.
Yeah, and we all know how well the fatigue/surplus system went over with everyone. Even though leves got nerfed, by that time we were already in the anima system that we have today. Now that people might actually travel abroad, sometimes to places that they don't have on their favorites etc. to get their SP, wouldn't at least a further reduction be in order?

Keep teleportation, give it some due limitations, but still allowing a player alternatives to be somewhere they need to be in a reasonable amount of time.

Just wait for chocobos first. Later down the road, probally within 3-5 patchs and the will add chocobos at "some" or "all" leve locations.

Hopefully they add Job Level requirements per Leve to use them.

Harder the leve higher the level requirement to use chocobos there. Best to keep it the same as the leve quest level requirements. Drybone R20~ Broken Water R35~ Emearld Camp R35~ would be a good example.

The surplus wasnt a timesink, it pretty much prevented the hardcore from using their time at all
You realize that you can move your favorites right? If you start needing to access a particular camp more often, change your favorite to that camp.

Honestly, this topic seems to be going on for far too long. Hell, the first line of the OP seems to imply that you knew this wasnt going to go anywhere but you were lookign for an argument. You have gotten every possible valid point and reasoning in favor of the current system and have honestly had nothing more than "i want it my way" to retort. I doubt we'll see any changes to the anima system as it pertains to teleporting to and from camp anytime in the near future. And if we do, i very heavily doubt that the change will have resulted from any of the "valid" points you have used to make your case.
So instead of continuing to argue, i'll leave it at that. Maybe i'll log in, teleport to emerald moss, and walk to tranquil in order to turn in my local leves.

3 anima for 15min of gameplay? Multiply that by 3 hours of gameplay and how much anima have you used? Or do you simply log in for 15min and log out? Bleh. It's not about timesinks, it's about punishing people for actually playing the game and doing it often.

Also, this isn't a direct shot at how often you play the game or not, but I see your highest rank is 35; How could you ever feel the pinch of anima if you don't play any more than that? Or, maybe I'm just assuming and the answer is you've only been ingame a month or so.

I think my idea for Anima is pretty decent, needs work though

Now it's time for the Anima talk. Sorry to bring this up, I do not want another heated thread about this, but with other transports coming in, Anima becomes more obsolete so it shouldn't matter too much what I say.

    Anima takes the fun out of the game, sure it's fast and everything, but it's not an accomplishment using it, how can you call yourselves adventurers if you don't even do that. Here is what I suggest;
    • Anima should cost points earned by Behest, quests and levequests alongside gil.
    • You can only have a maximum of 25 to start off. to go above this, you need to quest for it.
    • Each quest you do to raise the max Anima will get progressively harder.
    • Each quest will raise Anima a certain amount, for example "Quest 1 raises to 40, Quest 2 raises to 55, Quest 3 raises to 70, Quest 4 raises to 85, Quest 5 raises to 100".
    • In the future, more quests should become available to get more maximum Anima.
    • To get the ability to use anima, there should be a basic starting quest from starting the game (maybe challenging to rank 5 and almost impossible for rank 1).
    • Do not make it possible to be able to get teleported by someone else using Anima to a place that you have never been! Otherwise you would not have earned that area yourself. I do not know if this is fixed now but it used to be possible from my knowledge.
Well, that's my Anima ideas, and as you know, numbers are theoretical and and whole concept needs ironing out but I think I explained it well enough. And remember, airships and chocobos will be added so Anima will matter less. The reason I suggest this system be in place is because being able to teleport anywhere is a massive gift and at the time is the only transport, but with more transport options this should be an ability that you need to work for, just like riding chocobos or getting the airship pass. Auto-regen anima points is something that you aren't working for, and thus is free transport, something that needs to change. This also means that I will have a harder time getting around, so like I said, it's a system that may not sound good to you, but it's a system that is there for the good of all players, not myself.
