    Idk, I know some players who want to do Savage so... maybe not a lot did or wanted to do it but some players do like it.

    And maybe a way to see the cutscenes without the clear or gear. I think that clear and gear should be more of an achievement thing for clearing the battles than content given away especially considering echo makes it crazy easy once content is outdated as it is. :/

    If they had put Savage on a seperate lockout then I think numbers attempting it would have been much higher, same lock out puts off a lot of players.

    If that's the case then you should have no problem getting 7 other people from the "majoority" to attempt coil once or twice a week.     We also have too many players who are too impatient to actually learn also. AS in majority of cases, the ones who rage the most are the ones who mess up the most too and don't take advice.

    Because people wanted more challenging fights. The Savage Mode resources were already there (they were stated to be the developmental version that got nerfed for the actual release), so it was easy enough to implement.

    The fact is that i110 items can be grinded with relative ease (hunts ; syrcus tower drops 2 sands). Coil basically just drops items that are of equivalent item level with different stat distributions on them.

    So, if we had a coil lite, with no loot and just for story, i am not sure what the impact would be on the playerbase.

    Would a large part of the playerbase then say, ok, why bother spending vast amounts of time (even for the hardcore players, normal coil takes hours and hours to learn to do well) dealing with and learning normal coil?
    I can just do coil lite for the story.
    I can then get equivalent i110 items through other means (basically just grind Syrcus Tower and hunts).
    I can also grind my Nexus weapon out on cannon fodder.
    So, with coil lite, i imagine a large part of the playerbase, whether hardcore veterans or not, may just decide that doing normal coil is no longer worth the time and effort.

    I really dislike the "go to Youtube" arguments. That is dismissing the whole point of being a gamer. The point of playing a game is the interaction. Furthermore, in an MMORPG, that interaction is extended to other players and NPCs. Would you want to be invited to a friends house to just watch Metal Gear Solid, Call of Duty, or any other game you enjoy? Hell no, you want to play that game and be a part of the events that unfold.

    I can watch trailers and gameplay of said shooter/rpg/platform games all day and it does nothing for me unless I'm the one behind the controller/keyboard.

    Then shouldn't players also work for the achievement of clearing it and learning the mechanics especially considering it being nerfed up for the purpose of it allowing players less experienced to attempt coil with a upper hand? :/

    I don't think players should be 'locked out' of content but I think there should be a sense of accomplishment instead of nerf'ing it up all the way so there's no risk and everyone can smooth ride through content only to be locked out by current content again anyways.

    Edit: If nothing else than it'd just be better to open up a way to see the cutscenes without clear for characters with requirements to open first coil. Maybe the bard npc who makes illusions/recalls of memories should be given this purpose.

    I understand what you mean.What I wish to know then is, would it truly be immersive if instead of doing an epic fight where you give it your all or die trying, you instead push some randomn buttons, stand in circles only to lose 10% of your hp and have the boss drop dead in no time and be rewarded with an epic cutscene? You get an epic conclusion to a joke of a fight. That would really kill immersion for me.

    I believe that adding some easier version of coil is fine as long as there will still be the normal version with bit of echo. My coil static got to T9 2 weeks ago and I woud love to finish T9 normally, without any huge nerfs.

    This thread makes my head hurt.

    Here I am thinking the game needs more raid and end game content and greater variety of fun, interesting and challenging content, and yet 95% of the player base would rather XIV 2.0 just be a virtual chat room with no challenge where all the boss fights are just cutscenes of their characters winning the game. But what do I know, all the smarter people I knew took off months ago after T9 became farm-able with no interest in savage.

    Now I login with nothing to do patiently waiting for content patches. I guess I'm the idiot.
