at least they need to have real textures like the primals, not just being a glowing golem.
It's a DoT Class that was advertised as Summoner/A Pet class to draw interest (You could literally delete the pet or move its abilities to the caster and nobody would care or notice the difference), the Egis are fine for what it is, I've basically accepted that it's not changing at this point.
At the very least leaving the generally accepted horrible appearance of the Egis aside (They -do not- have to be full size, but come on, they look awful by basically any definition) the fact that the class Summoner has Summons that function as a glorified auto-attack rather than the actual focus of the job is a disservice to the role's history as far as I'm concerned (Not to mention an insult to the playerbase who they think is apparently too dumb to play a real pet class). I'd honestly prefer if they just re-worked Arcanist to be an actual role and have that be what Summoner currently is with the Carbuncles + DoTs, and then rework Summoner to be an actual pet job.

Except you know, lack ~25-30% of their damage. Hardly noticeable, really
Which role ?At the very least leaving the generally accepted horrible appearance of the Egis aside (They -do not- have to be full size, but come on, they look awful by basically any definition) the fact that the class Summoner has Summons that function as a glorified auto-attack rather than the actual focus of the job is a disservice to the role's history as far as I'm concerned.
Go on, take your pick.
- The White Mage with AoE Nukes ?
- The White Mage with a one trick pony for summons ?
- The Black Mage with high MP cost AoE Nukes that were nearly never used ?
- The one that took them forever to cast for "Meh" damage ?
- The jack of all trade, master of none ?
- The ones where every body could summon them based on nothing but the player's choice ?
- The one where the near entire pool of summons is close to useless ?
- The one where you had nearly no control over and you lose everyone but the one who summons it ?
Which is also nice of way of saying: "If you don't understand the implications of having a pet-focused job, you probably couldn't play it well anyway".
Ok guys I know we seem like a vocal minority that don't care about the game, but when you think about it, a HUGE amount, if not the majority, of ff14 players don't come onto the forums or bother giving their opinion/feedback, heck I was one of them but I love the game and I thought I would give my opinion in hopes that it gives another perspective on things, it may not be the most thought out, it was just meant to be creative feedback about it, but it's an honest opinion nonetheless. I bet a lot of people are the same way, the friends I play this game with talk to me all the time about what could be improved, but they never actually go to the forums or whatever.
Anyways can we just try having a kinder atmosphere when it comes to this? It's upsetting to see so much passive aggression (or plain aggression aggression.) I hope we're all here because we feel ff14 is a wonderful world and experience, because that's what matters most![]()

I actually agree with the OP here, the problem is that I just don't think SE cares. They've made up their minds, and at this point we're just pounding sand trying to convince them otherwise. I've frankly given up on SMN entirely and just dumped all my stats into MND for Scholar instead.
I'm happy with the egis as they are, I have enough vision problems with all the bahamuth and gobbue mounts everywhere... I hope they change them to egis too XD
I have SMN at 50 and i thought the egis look really cool, and saying they dont resemble the primals is just wrong imo.
And yet it would do them well to do the same courtesy and check if the opinion in question hasn't been discussed ad-nauseam. Or, if they want to express it so bad, go to one of the many threads and post in them. They are not hard to find, the DPS forum has 2 on the front page alone. Usually with outright confrontational titles like this thread, which do the op no favours.
Forum etiquette works both ways dude.
Well i personally would have liked the idea of alternative summons for each element..
for example like Belias (FF12) for fire:
Just a little to huge ^
And Ixion for thunder etc. etc.
i wonder why they didnt make the egis look like their originals but much smaller and "shiny". so that its clear that you dont summon the "real ones"
