For DTS Connect to work, you must set the analog device as the default output device in windows sound propties, and configure it to 5.1.

DTS Connect will then encode the 5.1 signal and output it via the toslink/spdif port.

There is a guide specific to Creative sound cards here http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=509795

    but the summary

    Quick Summary
1.) Plug the correct optical cable to your sound card.
2.) Enable Dolby Digital Live / DTS in sound card drivers.
3.) Set speakers in Windows to 5.1 / 7.1 and make them default playback device
    [/I]
This will enable 5.1 sound in all other games that use 5.1 / 7.1 sound but do not output it as Dolby Digital / Dts (They very rarely do).

If you set the toslink port as the default device, Xaudio titles like FFXIV will default to stereo, as thats all the windows sound properties provides for uncompressed pcm audio.
