    Summoner helping ress

I mained blm, then scholar, and now I'm about to transition into summoner cause we have no summoner and someone who's only 50 is scholar As well as 2 blms aside from me. We are just starting to get a static together.

My question is about summoners helping with resurrections. I still have the necessary skills to swift cast ress, what cues should I look for to use it? Should I be even thinking about it when it will cause me to have to hard cast shadowflare?

I like healing, I like blowing things up, and if we didn't already have a bunch of 50 tanks, I would rush a tank to 50 (might be wise anyways cause people don't like to tank sometimes), because I like that too

You can blow your Swiftcasts on Shadow Flares or leave them for rezzes. If you are running stuff in a static environment, you should assume the SCH has the first rez and optimize your own DPS based on the optimal outcome, not the "better safe than sorry" -outcome. Even when the content at hand is not at farm levels yet, you should not save up your Swiftcast during cruise-control phases at the very least. It's great to have back-up rezzes from SMNs, though.

You should know yourself when people are at a risk of dying and also observe your static's healer-behaviour. In our circles, the rezzing ladder is: SCH > WHM > SMN, unless otherwise special circumstances arise. (Like the WHM needing their MP a lot more, or if a SMN coincidentally has Swiftcast up, or if multiple people are dead etc, you can always call these up on Teamspeak and the like).

Mainly and talking about resses, you should watch your healers' mp. I suggest to macro something in /p to let your healers know that you are taking care of one dead and the cast is not wasted. Also, and at least for the first times you get to raise and until they know how you roll, I wouldn't use swiftcast on the first try, for the same reason, so it doessnt get wasted while the healer oversees you casting.

I thank you in advance for your attitude, I just hope more smns were like you my friend. Nothing is more annoying than seeing half of your party die on Scylla, healers either out of mp or also dead, and watching the smn's casting bar go "ruin-------" "ruin------". Just like brds who have to be told when to ballad, imo it's a sign that one is not doing his job well.

Smns I see who raise when needed and eye-for-an-eye players in trouble (not always tanks) will get my commend.

Since you're with a static, talk out the res priority in advance. In pug groups, just try to see how strained the healer or healers are and go off that.

SCH above 2k MP > WHM above 2k mp > SMN > SCH > WHM

Personal raise order. Skip a person if no Swiftcast. Act sooner than later. SMN shouldn't be expected to be first raise unless both healers are down.

thanks for this thread OP and thanks for the replies. now I really have to get swiftcast.

on my personal experience, when I'm partied with a WHM, I do observe his/her MP because sometimes they like to holy and there are dps people like me who make mistakes and die at at time when their MP is scarce lol so it's pretty much in my mindset to be a 2ndary healer/rezzer (in a light party) or an emergency rezzer when the other healer is down.

SMN or BLM actually healing... that's definitely a very last resort, at least in my eyes.

As for rezzing, it depends a lot on the circumstance. There are definitely times where I think SMN resses, even when the other healers are high on MP, can be helpful... on the other hand, you don't want to waste your own MP and lose DPS if you can help it. As an example, suppose you're doing Titan EX and stomps are about to start. The WHM starts precasting medica or medica 2, and then needs to cast another one during the stomps. Even with high MP, a secondary rezzer could help simply because the healer has to spend their GCDs elsewhere for the next few moments. Ditto for prison mechanics like in titan or twintania and so on.

Basically any parts of fights that are a lot of stress on the healer(s), an extra hand rezzing is much appreciated.
