Initial enmity generation and player bad habits.

Recently I have been seeing a lot of players that seem to not understand how enmity generation works or don't seem to care, particularly during a pull or that initial enmity generation period.
If this was only in low lvl content, I could understand but this has been happening mainly in high lvl content.

What I have been seeing lately.
    - OT's staying in tank stance during bosses, even when there are no adds. There is really no reason for this, it reduces your dps and makes it so you potentially end up fighting for aggro control.
    - Healers using HoT spells (regen, med 2) during a pull. Healing generates aggro and a HoT means you have established a constant stream of aggro towards you, multiply that by a full party that you just cast med 2 on and you have just painted a huge target on yourself.
    - DPS going all out with their attacks and offensive cooldowns during a pull and not using their aggro reduction abilities. Damage generates aggro and big spike damage can generate a decent chunk of it which can easily mess up a pull if the tank is still running to the boss to pull or has not even got in their initial aggro generation.

Has anyone else been seeing this regularly as well?

Yes, and on top of that I see dps that do not follow targets that I mark.

I play a blm also so I know how to manage hate.

Now, if someone pulls before me, or does not follow the marks, I let them die.

More real world examples of this sadness: Go into a garuda ex DF. As soon as the sisters spawn I am willing to bet you will see...

    Tanks that pull with provoke.

Ranged DPS that don't use quelling strikes.

White mages that don't use shroud.

Schs that keep their fairy on auto heal.

It's not something new unfortunately. Truth be told, it's not going anywhere any time soon. Aggro management is something that ends up being low priority for some players.

As a BLM main, it's not like it's hard to remember Quelling Strikes then Raging strikes then make with the fire on a boss pull. For trash pulls follow marks or use target of target if there aren't any. Quelling strikes is my "aw crap" switch if I see hate rising too fast on trash pulls (I open with it only on boss pulls). For synced content where I don't have the option to use it, I slow dps or change to drop a dot on another target the tank already has hate on.

I've seen Black Mages never using Quelling Strikes and ripping hate off the tank dozens of times... then proceed to show off their leet dps - only to be smashed in the skull by the boss or trash. I guess it's entertaining because I can just sit there in the corner while they all burn (I'm the healer), but my mp takes a large hit.

    BLM, Y U NO Quelling Strikes? ಠ_ಠ

Yes, its not new and it will always happen, its the regularity of it recently that I find disheartening though. It is so bad that pretty much every other run I do via df and even pf now, I am having to say something like "please don't use regen during a pull" or "I would really appreciate it if you didn't pull the boss", etc.

Yup. I've been seeing a ton of this lately, mostly in the HM primals when people are light farming. Yesterday, I had a bard go all out on the initial pull in Garuda HM. Friends were in the party with me and said that he/she popped Raging Strikes along with other buffs. Versus my initial Shield Lob/CoS, that's more than enough to rip aggro off your tank no matter how well geared they are, since the first few hits are pretty weak in the enmity generating department. Honestly, next time it happens that person can just tank the boss till they die. :3

The sad part is if I did this and the boss killed half the party, guess who'd get blamed?

I'm pretty sure you wanted to say "please don't use regen before a pull".
... because regen just at the start of an encounter, after the tank started to generate enmity, is actually one of the best way to heal him during the early enmity generation phase.

I hadn't done any duties recently other than ST and I just assumed the RPDS pulling was just a side effect of the troll-fest that is CT/ST. The thought of seeing that in things like primal fights is disheartening.

I see overzealousness often, but mostly from WHM, BLM, and BRD.

WHM, stop casting regen until AFTER the fight has started and aggro has been maintained (basically, wait about 8-10 seconds after the pulling has started).
BLM, if you're going to use Raging Strikes, combine Quelling with it so your aggro gain becomes pitiful enough to where you won't steal the aggro from the tanks easily.
BRD, STOP ATTACKING BEFORE THE TANK HITS IT FIRST! Seriously, I see this too often and you need to wait maybe 3 seconds for the first hit to be taken by the tank otherwise the monster will place priority on your aggro.

It's enough to where I've started calling those classes the "trouble" classes. Because almost every time I see one (short of my friends playing them), they're nothing but trouble and turn the run into a bad time. I've seen this from PLD too, mostly due to the constant starting of pulls with Provoke (seriously people, don't do this, Provoke only syncs your aggro with the person who is currently highest on the aggro meter, it does nothing when nobody has hit the enemy), lack of Shield Lobbing, and not being able to hold the hate on 3 enemies (is it too much to ask for the PLD to cycle through the enemies with the Halone combo so each one is hit by a bonus enmity move?).
