Can I please let my Chocobo rest & tag in my Retainer to fight alongside me?

I think this would be incredibly awesome.

You could even go so far as allowing us to develop our bond with Retainers... give them questlines, utilize more of the personality we chose for them, even possibly implement them into the Main Scenario to a small degree (like we hire them into our personal militia).

I would love to see the companion system expanded like this. I always liked the idea of unlocking beast tribe companions from getting max rank with their tribes as well. If they do add new companions, I hope they have skill trees that are different from our chocobos.

I do recall Yoshi saying that he'd like to allow retainers to be companions, however I'm unaware if any more was said about it than that.
I'm sure we'll see it eventually, I mean with ventures and gearing them up it seems like it could transition into a companion eventually.

Nah, keep the retainers how they've always been, chained to the Market Board, as we're talking about people who tend to steal parts of houses, and I definitely don't trust mine helping me in battle - they're liable to betray me at the first chance they get.

Instead, bring back version 1.0's Path Companions! I miss my acid-tongued miqo'te GLA Path Companion Imarah and her constant flirting.

They had that in XI and I have to say they were much better then the companion system they have in XIV.
