I'm fairly sure people don't give a damn largely for what any of the dungeons drop (cept glamour) and mostly people just run the fastest dungeon to cap on tomes. There's far more better options for gearing purposes.
Pharos was difficult at first but it was outranked by Brayflox HM as was Halatali HM

Precisely. What they should have done was have it drop i75 gear. 5 ilvls above Darklight and 5 ilvls below LotA gear.
@Zumi
Casuals currently have: Wanderer's Palace, Amdapor Keep (nerfed to hell), Pharos Sirius (nerfed to hell), Haukke Manor, Copperbell Mines, Brayflox Longstop, Halatali, Lost City of Amdapor, Tam-Tara Deepcroft, Stone Vigil, Hullbreaker Isle, Labyrinth of the Ancients, Syrcus Tower, Binding Coil of Bahamut Turn 1, Turn 2 and Turn 4.
They also have: Chimera, Hydra, Ifrit, Garuda, Moggle Mog and Titan Hard Modes (I'd include Leviathan and Ramuh HM, but they're secretly easy mode and offer no reward).
That's a lot of content for the casual players to enjoy. Second Coil T1-3 is most likely going to wind up on this list by 2.5.
It's really sad when Hard Mode doesn't mean what it means :/

perhaps create a randomized instanced dungeon where mob spawn location, number and difficulties are partially random, plus a thing or two that's completely random?
just two dungeons like this with a title achievement reward is enough to hook up most casual players I think

Like I said before the dungeons are mainly for casuals. They need casual content for the people who aren't skilled enough for coil and ex primals. They aren't going to make hard 4 man content with hard dps checks and 1 shot mechanics because they want to give the casuals some content to do. If you want challenge coil and ex primals is where it is at.
Because this game is totally lacking in casual content right now.Like I said before the dungeons are mainly for casuals. You have to look at current content not content that gets invalidated. More specifically 2.4 content because all previous content is old doesn't compare to the new stuff.
Casuals get: 3 dungeons + Shiva HM
hardcore get: Shiva EX + Final Coil (4-5 turns)
So you see its about an even amount of content.
Not at all. As mentioned before, Coil counts as one dungeon, especially with lockouts. EX Primals aren't hardcore either. Those are probably the closest thing we have between casual and hardcore, and that's only 1 primal per patch (while the previous one becomes EZ Echo Mode). You have to look at current content not content that gets invalidated. More specifically 2.4 content because all previous content is old doesn't compare to the new stuff.

Also, it is not an even amount of content because those 3 dungeons are dungeons we are doing on an almost daily basis in order to cap tomes. Those 3 dungeons are done more than anything else introduced in a major patch.
"You have to look at current content not content that gets invalidated. More specifically 2.4 content because all previous content is old doesn't compare to the new stuff."
It's not even content that gets "invalidated", new dungeons are basically already invalidated by that definition due to their required ilv disparity with the current ilv that tomes give you. Older dungeons are still relevant btw, just check your Hard Mode roulette.
Right now, there is not a single dungeon with 4 people that is challenging. If you want a challenge, you gotta go with 8, and 7 other people you enjoy playing with are not always on. I'd love to get 3 friends together within seconds and run challenging stuff for daily roulettes, instead of the facerolls that exist now. Hell, I'd settle for a "modifier" that would let you optionally up the challenge on 4 person dungeons.
I have mentioned this before in other threads, but it's silly of SE to only release one dungeon every other major patch that is the only place tuned for the gear that current tomes reward; that is extremely unbalanced. Right now, SE is saying "let us give you new gear that is tuned for one dungeon, and makes the majority of everything else faceroll time", and that's no fun. There's absolutely no feeling of danger in most of this game's content, it's almost like playing an old school game on God Mode on.

I like that idea. Specially the entry items. Would be fun to hunt those items f.e. in treasure chests or a daylie quest and then enter a really hard dungeon with cool random drops like accessories, upgrade items, or other stuff wich is nice to have (high lvl materia, thavnier onion (very rare tho) or whatever). Just no crap wich suck again, if u are close to the current highest ilvl.I for one would like to see 4-man dungeons on the difficulty level of Coil that are part of endgame progression with it's difficulty and loot. Put in accessories or upgrade items in those dungeons but with the kicker that they aren't completely spammable like current 4-mans. Either a short dungeon lockout (6 hrs) or entry items that need to be earned to enter them.

Challenging 4 man content.
Anybody remember Pharos Sirius v.1. ....Yeah. And then the masses cried, "This is too hard! WTF were you thinking SE!!!" and then it got a lot easier after the nerf.
The original Pharos Sirius was definitely the hardest level 50 dungeon we've had in the game. Boss fights could be brutal and even the dungeon itself was pretty hard at first when compared to all the other level 50 dungeons at that time.
People will cry for harder dungeons, and then people will cry that those harder dungeons are too hard. SE will pander to the majority and decrease the difficulty after the outcry.
So.. yeah, good luck OP.
