How to Contact a Difficult to Reach Player?

This sounds like he scammed you guys, got the money, probably sent it to a friend or another account of his and playing with another character or something, but he's keeping this account alive for storage reasons or some other stuff.

I really hope I'm wrong, because it's really sad that there could be people like this playing this game and I feel sorry about your gil, but I think you'll have to accept that it's lost money.

Have you asked the other members how they got their money back? or how they were able to contact him? The macro idea sounds good.

I'd assume that if it went into the FC bank it was a donation. Yeah, it's shitty that it went nowhere, but did you really expect to see that money again?

yeah I agree with this. I mean, to a certain extent when you donate to the FC chest, you are relinquishing any personal claim to that money. HOWEVER, when the FC is no longer functioning, members certainly can ask to be reciprocated. The money was donated with the understanding that it would be used for the FC. Though there is still a tiny hope that ownership could pass lol.

What about asking him to make you leader if he responds to you about the money?

I think that idea about changing the MOTD was the best one, but if you don't have permissions and can't mog mail... and don't have any out of game way to contact the player... Yeah, it sounds like you're pretty out of luck, sorry.

If there's anyone else that can change the MOTD you can ask them to do that, or ask officers if they have the leader's contact info.

For future reference, it's always a good idea to get some of the higher ranking people on your Skype contacts list or whatnot.

The OP did say that he can still see the FC money in the FC bank, so it hasn't been transferred to another character or account. From the sounds of it, it's a dead FC whose leader isn't 100% sure they want to relinquish the FC. Maybe they're taking an extended break, but intend to return and rebuild the FC someday. Not a very responsible FC leader (I sure wouldn't want to wind up part of the "rebuilding"), but probably not shady either. Ah I didn't read that post, he may be waiting patiently for all the people to get tired and leave by their own? Pretty stupid thing to do for only 12M but I've seen stranger things, and my life experience always ells me to expect the worst, even if it's caused by incompetence.

But I hope it's as you say and it's just irresponsibility and OP can get her gil back eventually.

well the hierarchy of ranks isn't the issue. it's just too difficult to get in contact with a player that is rarely active. no way to leave them a message or anything. can't even send a PM through the forums here. in a situation like mine, the only shred of hope is to already have that person in your friends list.

at the time the other left our leader was somewhat more active and easier to contact. but i have tried contacting some of the former members. i was only able to find one. and have sent her a letter just today.

as was already mentioned, i completely understand that he has zero obligation to return the gil. however, it's a HUGE amount of gil for a player like me. i will try to reach our FC leader for the next year if need be. or wait for the leader title pass. lol :-x

either way, gil or no gil... i've no intention of staying in the FC after successfully contacting the leader. i've got zero leadership skills. and could care less about saying anything more then hello, please and thank you when speaking to other people.

it's funny, because the only other members that are even slightly active were at one time the most in-active. so you know it's bad when your least active becomes your most active. and neither of those two people have higher permissions then i do.

things like Skype are too difficult for me to learn how to use. T_T ah well, i will have to figure something for the future. as to hopefully never have this happen again.

Doesn't have to be skype specifically. kik, email, old fashioned texting... basically, in any MMO... for anyone that holds some importance or is just a good friend, and you might want to make sure you can contact some day.... don't rely on in game communication methods.

yeah. i follow what you are saying. that is something i will certainly take note of in the future. sorting some alternate means of contact for those certain people is a good idea. just wish i would have actually done that in the first place. lol. oh wells.
