How to Contact a Difficult to Reach Player?

so for the last 3 months, or so, i've been trying to get in contact with the leader of my Free Company. i am trying to get back the 1.7kk gil contributed, because the FC is quite dead. it has like 2 or 3 semi-active members.

now i know the FC leader has no obligation to return this gil. but i am still persistent to get it back. however, it's nigh impossible to get in contact with him. i can't add him to friends unless he's online. i can't mail him unless he's in friends. there's no contact options through the lodestone.

i've tried to wait for the 30day period to get leader passed to me. but he logs in once every so often. but he only comes online for like a single minute. by time i can even say one word he's logged out. and i've tried leaving a message using the short message system. but the short message is not readily visible.


i would really like to be able at least ATTEMPT to ask for the return of the gil. 1.7kk is a very significant amount for me. is there absolutely no way i can contact this person? i don't know them in real life or even anyone else that knows him.

Sounds like a D-bag if he's logging on just so you don't get leadership passed to you.

it really blows! but i doubt he's trying to keep my gil. there is like 12kk in the coffer. plus he has returned gil to other members who have decided to leave. and if he really wanted the gil he could just take it out of the coffer. it's been like 3 months now. so he knows no more gil is being put in. however, i am sure he doesn't want to lose leadership status. not like it makes any difference since he don't play. :/

If you're catching him online now and then, I'd say set up a macro to send him a tell & keep it on a button you can spam when you see him. That way you don't have to worry about the time it takes to type the message. If he has given others their gil back and is willing to do the same for you, that should at least get his attention & maybe get a reply.

If you don't have outside contact info for him, I can't think of any good way to get in touch with him otherwise.

Edit: Or, for that matter, throw /flist add "Name Here" in the macro and that might get his attention, too. If he accepts, you're good, since you can mail him then.

yes. kk = million. and no you're not dumb :P it's an actual reference to million, just not frequently used outside of banks.

well i've only been able to see him online once or twice. and have been trying to do my best to catch him more often. but i will give the macro thing a try. and just spam it :P he got to notice! lol.

other then that... the only other thing i can try is searching all the players in his friends list. maybe one of them can send a letter for me.
