I'm not heated but it's pointless... they're changing currency but keeping the same system/cap, only with different names. They should've just moved sold items to myth, myth to whatever they'll decide and new items to soldiery. No need to add a new currency.

That's exactly what they're doing though. They're looking at how much Myth you have and giving you that much Philo. Then, they're looking at how much Sold you have, and setting your myth to that value, and completely clearing Sold. Then, they're removing the myth items from the vendors, but switching all items that take Sold to take Myth instead.
That's what you're talking about, right? Well, they're doing exactly that. However, when they're done, they're renaming philo tomes "Mythology," myth tomes "Soldiery," and sold tomes to some new word. That doesn't somehow mean there's a new currency. They just changed some names around and moved some items around.

I get that. Hence why even renaming things at all... they can't expect us to think it's new, or refreshing?

I doubt they do. It's not the reason it's being done. It's being done because they want to give people new rewards for new content, and gating those rewards behind new currency is the way they've decided to do it. Do you really think it's less confusing to switch what the currency buys, rather than introducing a new one? They're functionally the same thing, but to me, the way they're doing it is cleaner and clearer.
Can you imagine the whining that would happen if they switched people's tomestone pools without renaming them? So, suddenly, you log in to find your 2,000 soldiery is gone and 2,000 myth is in its place. Even if the myth can be used to buy what soldiery used to buy, imagine how people will react on the forums if that were to happen. By making a "new" currency instead and removing the oldest, no one can say that they're taking anything from anyone, and they still continue the progression.
And, can you imagine if they didn't touch people's pools, but made the sold gear myth-buyable and the newest gear sold-buyable? Suddenly, the people who happened to save up 2k soldiery are outfitted instantly in i120 gear, leading to the people who didn't save up whining about it. And if they just reset everyone's pools to zero, the people who did save up will whine about it.
This form of progression is inherent in the game design. Tokens for turn-ins let you choose your equipment rather than relying on RNG, while the latest Coil version drops gear of the same quality, but randomly and with a lockout. That's what they're trying to continue, and I think that's good. I like having a non-RNG method of obtaining endgame gear as an option for when you get screwed by RNGesus.
