Okay I only read the title I got too upset to read the rest of the text.

You seriously think summoner is gimped?

I play summoner most of the time in frontlines and can easily take down a healer in seconds by popping all my cooldowns. I usually deal the most damage in my gc and end up with 10+ kills every game.
I think summoner is the strongest in pvp except for maurauders cause I can't solo them...

Okay I read to the scholar part.
and I will reply with use Wither to remove aetherflow

i will have to say no to un-gimping summoner, when summoner was at full strength wolves den was nothing but summoner, and in pvp currently i have seen summoners get up to 20! KILLS, as well as a couple HUNDRED THOUSEND damage and they don't even NEED to limit brake, summoners are strong as they are, its just people have wised up and now stop summoners from attacking.

SMN is a tough one sometimes to play in front lines. All someone has to do is move to your side and you're interrupted. But it takes some practice and when you get rolling on SMN you're a dangerous person!

Micro-manage Egi's seems to help me out a lot. I use Ifrit, I like the stun for those melee's when they finally get to me. In big fights I notice I don't get to use Garuda's extender move as much unless I'm on big node.

Tri-disaster and Blizzard II are my friends. Usually I try my best to use it at the same time with a LB or when someone's about to LB. Run over Tri or Bliz2, bind them and someone else uses aoe. it's not 100% but it happens often enough for me to like to use it. Using Bane, can really mess up a scholar, if you can get the pet to want to cure itself while all the focus is on the SCH or sometimes I can take down the pet quickly. I know there's a million situations where things can happen, purify / additional healers / outside of the circle white mage / A monk who sees a giant hellboy roe as a main target...these things happen. To me it's fine the way it is..when I go on smn I either go for the kill or hurt everyone so the healer has to make a choice..who lives..and who dies. Again there's ways around it...medica II / Medica / Bene etc... but these people aren't using these abilities all the time and if they do sure they save but that move is used up..and I just start building up from scratch all over again, then they don't have that move to use no more or can't because of interruptions.

actually. Most of the time Pets get bound and the smn chased off, letting the pet despawn.

One of the most annoying classes to be targeted by is SMN though, their dots are mean. I mean really mean for anything that doesnt have Tank HP pool

Why are so many people bring up 1 vs 1? Frontlines is a team based game. I was doing an assessment of DoMs ability to handle multiple threats defensively. Sch has lustrate, a fairly, a shield from adloquium, and stoneskin and sacred soil. WHM has stoneskin, fluid aura, sleep, benediction. Blm has manawall/ward and an AOE and single target sleep. Smn is naked has an AOE bind and single target stun or knock back. The issue with our stun is compounded by the fact that Ifrit egi is dizzy and will sometimes delay executing Crimson cyclone for a few seconds when it was needed now. Or he just won't execute it cause he abruptly changed targets without being told to. Has anyone else noticed this?

i do agree on how everyone bringing up 1v1 in front lines may not seem right but in front lines it can have a multitude of possibilities
1v1 1v2 2v2 1v3 2v3 3v3 ext until 24v24v24, this said each and every class has major advantages and disadvantages some being more about focusing 1 at a time while another can deal with 3 at a time, this said summoner if plaid correctly should have no issue in a 1v3 to 1v5 sinarrio and if there are more then one summoner lets say 3 of them , there pets deal a massive amount of number to 1 person (lets say healer) while the 3 summoners dots can basically wipe out a whole party, summoner is a double edged sword, and is very dangerous or very weak depending on the players play style, and the same could be said for all classes

Yes. 1 vs 2 or 1 vs 3 or 2 vs 3. I was looking at Smn's ability to defend itself again 2 or 3 people simultaneously and it seems the job got the short end of the stick compared to the other mages. When I get home im going to look into how blizzard 2 and tri disaster compare to fluid aura. Really guys, my thread was not about whether Smn was a force to be reckoned with - it was a comparitive exercise into the defense tools each mage can leverage.

So you want all the damage and all the defense as well? SMN are like BLM, glass cannons, are you actually saying that manawall/ward is so broken you deserve a buff? And the fact you are actually comparing to healers is just mind boggling. How about smns get a nerf? its not fair that blm is resorted to scathe spam while most of smn is insta cast.
