Can somone explain what ilvls are all about?
ilv is more so of concern once you reach level 50 as your class/job is 50 but the gear makes it so that your level 110 or so.
End game gear comes in various levels, like 55 which will be your end gear from your class, there is level 60, 80, 90, 100 and 110
I probably missed some in between. It used to be that myth gear which is level 90 was your best and while still available because SE made it so easy now to get gear most new players go straight to the level 100 gear ( upgradeable to ilv110)
While Maero is right that it's at endgame that iLevels become more important (because there's such a wide range of gear that all has the same level requirement for equipping it), it does show up throughout the game. The first couple gear sets from the lowest level dungeons are level 15 gear (in terms of what level you need to be to equip them) but are Item Level 17 because they're stronger than normal level 15 gear would be. Even before that, the bonus collector's edition helm is level 1 but item level 11.
Yeah, except for the weapon, I had a full set of i90/i100 Bard gear before even hitting level 50, and that was just from taking part in a few hunts. Actually, it was sort of a pity that when I was finally able to complete my AF set it was already obsolete.
^ oh i agree and will also add getting gear through hunts was a very bad idea. I remember back in the day as i am sure you do as well how long myth gear took to get and you actually felt like you accomplished something.
