Suggestion: Implement Card Battle Game (a la FFVIII)

I remember thinking on MANY occasions when playing or killing time in both FFXI and FFXIV that SE should implement a mini-game for card battling (both humans and NPCs). It would be similar to FFVIII where everyone, including NPCs, has a deck and should you both choose to challenge each other, you can have a mini-game of card battling where the victor obtains cards/money/in-game bonuses/etc.

This would be a deck-building mini-game where you carry around your cards with you (though they wouldn't take up a slot(s) in inventory and would just be like minions/mounts where you just have them (though can lose them in battles) and could battle anyone, anywhere. You can make decks in the menu and could, should you choose, try to get all the cards, some being very rare (some can be bought, others need to be won). It also would require a UI, not just something like the Jeuno casino from FFXI which was all text based (and I don't mean a separate, out-of-game app like Tetra Master was)....

...I know FFXIV isn't a card battle game and I don't want it to be, but it seems like such a relatively simple mini-game to implement that would be a great time killer when waiting for people to get on, gear up, a FATE/hunt to pop, etc. while nurturing the idea that this truly is a living world with people who sometimes just want to unwind and have fun.

I believe this would be a nice optional side game similar to what they've done in past games (FFVIII & FFIX), but unlike in those games, we now also have a living breathing audience in addition to NPCs. What's more, they could have huge tournaments like once a year or something. I think this could really take off if done right.

Anyways, I just wanted to share the vision that has been in my mind for years. Carry on! If there is somewhere better to post this, please let me know and I'd be happy to move it.

If you edit your first post you can go over the character limit ^^. The Golden Saucer is scheduled to have a card game in it btw, will be exciting to see how they implement it- specially since they talked about possibly dueling NPCs~

Awesome! Cannot wait! I hope they do it well and it's not confined exclusively to the Golden Saucer, but even if it is, better than nothing.
