They are squeezing an extra 20 bucks out of folks that aren't going to their shindig for something they could get off the net for free.

Why are you complaining? You should be taking notes. This is how to get every last drop out of your customers. Pretty crafty.

Compared to Blizzard's Virtual Ticket price, this is actually pretty cheap. If you don't want to shell out 20$ for a HD Stream where you get more content to watch, good news for you as there is a free one!

But it's funnier to take a jab at Square Enix and try an attempt at cleverness when one doesn't understand that an event such as this costs money and that streaming it in HD isn't done by magic, isn't ?

Well, I know Zenimax were giving out codes for a unique pet at conventions and they ended up on Ebay at prices above what SE are charging for the HD stream. So people will pay for stuff like the Moogle attire alone and, from SE's perspective, it makes more sense for them to offer it to players - it's profit for SE, some of which will end up reinvested in the game, and gives players a chance to get the item without having to go through a third party.

Seriously though it's only 20 dollars and if you're stressing over 20 dollars then you should probably stop paying for a game with a monthly subscription then, lol. Blizzard charges 40 dollars for their "virtual ticket" in comparison.

Has nothing to do with Having the money or not having the money. It's getting your money's worth. Even if I had a million dollars I still would want to make sure I got what I paid for. 20 dollars for "Minimal difference between Standard and Premium Streams" to me personally i outrageous.

I do hope someone will have a stream open streaming the Premium event though :P.

They could make it cheaper, but it could be also more expensive. ;/

Compared to the competition SE has done good by us, plus I'd like to think they can use the extra money as an excuse to do it cyclically and with an excited vigor. If it is popular maybe they'll add more features next time, like having one of the CM with a live cam walking around the event, answering questions from the premium stream (if they're not doing that already, don't think so..).

I'm not a crazy fan of exclusive items but getting an item is pat down ritual by now and people expect it, a stream option is a nice way to keep it open yet not break tradition. Also SgtPepperUK has a good point, these codes from the events go for much more than $20 (unless the item is terrible.. lol), SE is helping set a price ceiling:P

Having a free stream in SD which is more than likely going to be 480i loaded with people because it's free which means higher chances of the stream quality being terrible vs 20$ for a HD Stream (either 1080p or 1440p which means much better visual quality) with more content to see and a moogle suit, which for me is just an added bonus since when I watch a stream, I don't want to be able to count the pixel because it's being streamed by a potato.

We got a different definition of outrageous.

When that exact same HD version of the video will be available via Youtube within hours? Yeah I still think it's outrageous. I would do it for 10, but not 20. In fact keeping info away from " fans" and barring it unless you pay is kinda ignorant. But hey, I'm not the one wasting the money so it doesn't matter ayways. I am just putting it out there that I think the pricing is steep. ( Even though we as fans should really see this "Fan Fest" even in HD for free, but I won't even go there as it doesn't matter).
