This was mostly due to character limitations inherent in older games, and was changed to standard names in every game after VIII, including remakes of every game in the series but VII (the only one with no remake). Official English translations of the original, II, III, IV, V, VI, VIII, IX, X, XI, XII, XIII, and all Tactics games use the standard naming, only XIV uses the numbering system instead.

Plus their reasoning is ridiculous to boot. "III" sounds like it's better than "II," which does not make things easier on newer players at all.

    FFV PS1 version says, Fire, Fire2, Fire3, Ice, Ice2, Ice3, Bolt, Bolt2, and Bolt3.

    Also this guy is right.

Basically, Playstation 1 version of FFV will be named with numbers, the GBA version will have -ra, -ga suffixes. Which is the case.

And of those 8, how many have used the "traditional" (in your definition of traditional) suffixes? One.

Please keep your tone civil, unless you want the thread deleted entirely.

Quite the contrary - I've noticed that more civil discussions tend to get more replies from community reps, and also more support from your fellow players. Be polite (or direct), keep an open mind, and people will generally agree with you more. When you start throwing around insults is when you start losing credibility and support, even if your initial idea is valid. (Oh, and doing a quick grammar check before you post tends to help, but I understand if English isn't your primary language.)

Anyway, tired, going to sleep. Don't expect any responses from me from here on out unless this thread is still on the front page when I wake up.
