There's a bunch of words happening here yet they seem to mean nothing. But I will say I in no way believe you've played all 30+ Final Fantasy games.
Also to you its not just the spell what annoys me is se has become a kissu p trying to drag in morons who need to play the other final fantasys it dosnt just have xiv for show final fantasy is a serises MEANING YOU NEED TO PLAY THEM ALL or else u dont belong in the newer ones period

They should be named FIRE FIR2 AND FIR3 and flare renamed NUKE, never deviate from the original.

Winxbloom, SE didn't start using the 'ra/ga/ja' suffix naming system for spells in the English language versions of the FF series until FFVIII, all FF English-language FF titles before then (FFI, IV 'easy type', VI and VII) used, surprise surprise, numeric titles. And before you pass judgement, FFXI actually used both, leading to ridiculously convoluted spell titles like Firaga IV.
As DefendPopPunk mentioned, Ferne explained SE's reasons for reverting to the original spell naming style for FFXIV back during ARR's Beta test, so it's pretty concrete then that SE has absolutely zero intention of changing the spell naming system to match recent FF titles.

As ridiculous as it is, it was enough to teach us that Fire was single target, Fira was AoE from the caster and Firaga was AoE around the target. Firaja (which came out before the elemental -ara spells) was also AoE around the target, but it also gave the caster a 5% fire (elemental) buff that increased by 5% after every successful cast.

Fire II should be renamed Firaga, and Fire III should become Fire II. I'll never understand their weird naming conventions. While we're at it, Blizzard II should be named "A touch Frosty" and Freeze should be renamed "Wasted Slot", but I digress. Yes, I'm still bitter about them making Blizzard II so weak and removing Thunder as a cross-class. Sure, give us Blizzard as a CC... AFTER they make it pointless to cast. Grumble...
At least Flare lives up to the name, so no complaints there. But I do miss the old Firaga, Blizzaga range from earlier games. In FFXI they were so named to differentiate between AoE and single target. Surely if Yoshi wanted the spells to be less confusing, the 'aga' suffix makes more sense?

well w/e im just going to say this if you havent played the other final fantasy cancle your account now AND GO PLAY THE OTHERS 1- TO THIS ONE U DONT BELONG HERE UNTIL U PLAYED ALL THE OTHERS
He's been extreme the whole time.
Winxbloom61. Throughout the years the final fantasy has used several naming schemes for spells. They used one that was the original american naming scheme. Deal with it. This isn't going to change after people have been using the existing names for 1 year. If there reasoning was to prevent confusion then changing them now would only promote confusion. Guaranteeing that it will never ever ever happen. Enjoy.
