Care to add any details? While I can re-read those sections of the notes, the system wasn't something I even knew about before leaving before. How do I get started?

There are weekly and daily hunts that reward you with seals. With these seals, you can purchase upgrades, sands of time, etc.

To speed up the acquisition of this currency, you would go out in the world and take down A rank hunts. These A rank hunts offer 20 seals. I would advice you to join a hunting link shell or party that focuses on taking down hunts. Also there are helpful gadgets that some players use to facilitate the discovery of these hunts. There are also S ranks which offer the highest reward, but they appear once every blue moon...

In about an entire full day, you can earn enough seals to get 'em sands of time, which can upgrade a weapons, armor, etc., to ilvl 110

Awesome, thanks. I just stumbled across the beginnings of this from the Grand Company I'm a part of. I'm still rocking my relic weapon, but at least that gives some direction to go!
