I'm gonna have to disagree with you on this, mainly because I feel the main classes as they are now are sorta weak. I don't want to be a gladiator with a paladin specialization, unless of course that changed my "class" and allowed me to equip paladin armor. really, the only way I can see something like this working with the armory system, is if you have enough points in a certain "tree" you could become that class and thus could use the specialization's armor/weapons.

I am not keen in replacing the current classes with "classic" FF classes so this idea really appeals to me. Wether they go with that or advanced jobs, I would be fine.

However, I do have a question that I think has not been pointed out and I would like to know more about it. In Limsa Lominsa, there is two guilds representing two classes that are not available as of now: the Arcanists and the Musketeers. Now, what I want to know is if there was announcement that those classes would eventually become available or not.

To fit more in this topic, I'll like to have your take of those two classes in your system. I know it's a little harder for Arcanist because they gave no info of what they do, but I suppose thyat Musketeers would be easier considering their weapon of choice.

I like all of this. I assume from current weapons we are getting Paladin, Dragoon, Warrior, Black Mage, White Mage, Thief, Monk, Dark Knight, Ranger.. and I would really like to see Ninja, Samurai, Mystic Knight hit the game and something to utilize the Gunblade.

If this would cause limitations like a skill tree then I would have to strongly disagree. I HATE games that limit be to specific roles which is why I don't play many other MMORPGs that long.

I'm sorry if this comes off as mean but did you read the entire post? I'm going to go through each line of your post and give a reply to it.

We are in agreement that the current classes are weak. Thats why I proposed specs to lead classes down a path that will make them stronger and excel at certain tasks.

Again you did not read my post. The base classes will no have Artifact Armor. That is reserved for Advanced Classes / Specs; so yes you will be able to wear PLD only armor as PLD spec.

I clearly gave a valid example of how they could do that.

It's ok to disagree but please read and understand before you take a stance. What you just did is detrimental to the process.

    Like the idea but...

I like what you came up with but you are limiting the character, putting restrictions when as of now there really are none.

Yes the way things are the jobs as a whole seem to have no soul, but then again this is because stats are broken as a whole. For example, you are a THM and supposedly what you should raise is your INT/PIE as a CONJ you should raise your MND/PIE. Now if you where to play your THM and use a CONJ spell the fact that your MND is not that great means the spell you use does not hit as hard as the THM spells. The same can be said for any of the classes depending on what they benefit the most from Stats wise.

Unless stats are going to go away totally then your suggestions are ok, yet you are still limiting yourself, imposing limitations on your character is a bad idea overall. Does it make the character better for some? Probably, but for others all your doing is going back to the Holy Trinity that they wanted to get away from to begin with. But the way they implemented it was bad and it failed miserably. None the less keep the idea's flowing that is the only way that we will see a better game come out of SE's mess.

Yes, I am putting restrictions because not only do they need to be made, they will be made. Theres no avoiding it. This mix matching is killing other classes.

I am in full support of the implementation of this idea. I haven't read it fully yet, mainly because it's so in depth and quite sizable in length, so I don't know all the details. I would not want these trees to restrict what classes I like (like as a GLA, would I be able to progress and master both Paladin and Dark Knight?). The ability to level all jobs to cap was an aspect about FFXI that I loved, and one of the many that I'd like to see continued into this game.

Good job on the post explaining the system and going into it in detail.

In the post I said that you can reset your points and go down the other spec and play DRK (assuming you did it's quest). You will not be restricted to leveling classes in a certain specs. You can change at will.
