Kurokikaze, you are a wonderful person. I didn't think of it this way before. Great ideas. Well thought out, well presented, and it easily fulfills most players 'wants' from this game.

I was a little scared at first when you brought up talent trees. I personally in my own mind replaced it with more of the 'merit point' system from xi to make myself feel better about it, but nevertheless.

Am I understanding by your model though, that 'unlike' ffxi, you need to specifically level one class to 30, and by doing so it unlocks a possibility of 'x' amount of further classes that are restricted to which class you have leveled 'to' rank 30. This of course being opposed to xi's style of level any class to level 30, and then you can unlock any further class in the game via quest?

Yes thats correct. Although you would not be locked into those classes. You still have the freedom to redo your talent points and spend them on a different advanced class for that base class.

Let's say your PUG was specced into a 50 MNK and you decided you wanted to play NIN instead. Assuming you have done the quest for NIN you would simply remove your talent points. When you remove all your points your stats go down to what they would be for 50 base PUG and your MNK specific traits/abilities will be unequipped. You then put those points into NIN and you can then play a 50 NIN.

It sounds weird if you're coming from FFXI only but this is standard fair for anyone thats played another MMO, namely WoW. Don't think of it as playing a different class altogether. You're taking your base class and changing your role. Your role in this case is NIN (tank).

Thanks for the kind comments all

I was talking stats that are buffed from certain trains in the MNK tree (like +10% STR or something) but I'm not taking Physical Level and stat allocation into consideration for this. That clearly has to go altogether in favor of predefined class stats like we had in FFXI. As it stands, they don't work and it's entirely separate issue. :/

Changing specs I feel should be something people could do whenever they want like changing classes. You should also have presets so that at the click of one macro you can equip all your talents/traits/abilities/armors sets for that specific spec.

Rhianu I'm posting that in OP and giving you credit for it cause I honestly could not have done that better.

I disagree with the link for the fact it seems too close to ffxi for me with an added mix for pvp(which also im not a fan of for a ff game). PvP should either stay out of XIV or implemented years from now. PvP is just not what FF games are about and will cause a lot more balancing issues(i think there are enough issues as is).

I like the idea, and starting the class quests at the 20-30 range seems like the ideal point to start. Just enough time to learn the basics, creating a low-level 'destination' to aim for, and rectifying the class blandness that comes from all the 'gray mages'. I would however like to see cross-class requirements, such as GLD 25, PUG 15 to unlock a THF class. Or perhaps a GLD 25, THM 15 to unlock DRK.

Also, the addition of another DOM base class would be neccessary at some point to even out the number of melee to magic classes. Not now, but perhaps in an expansion, introduce the new DOM base class, with branches to BLU, SMN, or BRD. (It allows room for growth and future balancing, which every MMO NEEDS).

Thank you Kaze. HOPE! REMEMBER THE FIRST RULE OF FC!

This is great! I like the thought put forward.

The downside I do see is that one cannot play all the classes in this setup potentially.

In XI and XIV currently, I enjoy the ability to play all classes. If I am forced to choose PLD vs DRK for example, will I not be able to play the other?

Or can I choose 1 of each base job.

For example, could I have a RDM, DRK, THF and RNG? That would allow me to pick 1 advanced job from each base job.

Edit: didnt read all pages before I posted. Sorry if this is already addressed.
