Well the biggest flaw in this is that suddenly the game will not be solo friendly at all anymore.

^ not likely. Just look at every other game with specs that allows players to solo.
Amen. As much as I like to specualte, I'd rather just know what specifically they are going to do. Whether its something I like or not, is irrelevant. If SE comes out and says this is what we are doing with the battle system, and this is what we are doing with classes, etc etc., and your gonna like it, then thats just the way it is. And you know what, I'd be fine with that, because then I could become commited to this game or move on. I'm sure that even the people that dont agree with me on issues would agree with me on this point.
Just like if FFXIV doesnt go in a direction I like after adjustements have been made, I will leave. I am sure someone like Cairdeas would leave as well, if SE took the game in a direction he disliked. The problem is that we don't know, and all we can do is specualte. It would be different if this game was still in its limbo state of having no direction. But now that we have Yoshi-P, I can tell this dude has direction in mind for FFXIV. And I also believe that the Player's Polls only served to solidify his beliefs in what direction the game should take. With that in mind there is no way, that the devs don't have a plan. They know what they are going to implement (if not exactly when), so there is no reason not to tell us what the plan is. By waiting to release this information, all SE is doing is stalling so as not to lose any more customers. The dumb part is that people are still leaving, because they arent seeing results or even details on plans. People just want to know about things like AH or no AH, will jobs replace classes, will classes build up to jobs, will there be limitations put on cross-classing, if not what measures will be in place to ensure class uniqueness, what is the STF doing about bots, what will endgame be like, will content be changed to be overall more challenging, will the game incorporate more party dynamics, what about custom UIs, what about more tweaks to gamepad playability, etc etc etc.
So after reading about a million and 1 post about changes to the class/job/armoury system, I figure I'd throw my 2 cents, of course not everyone will agree and thats fine with me...so I did some research to have an idea about the names that SE choose for the jobs we currently play (yes I said jobs). IMO class = DOL, DOH, DOW, and DOM...jobs (weapon specialist) = GLD, MRD, LNC and so forth, agree to disagree...good. So with weapon specialization being used a basis, here are my new thoughts on new jobs, they are far from perfect, I was at work and thought about this:
Ronin--Great Katana
Assasin-- dagger/knives (dual wield)
Shinobi--katanas
Berserker/Viking---axes
Sage/Scholar--Books/Tomes (party buff, debuff)
Divinator (Geomancer/Elementalist)--maces/whips (debuff, enfeebler)
I like the ideas that the OP has! I always just wanted them to implement the basic jobs from the beginning, but I think this guy's onto something neat! It gives us our nostalgia feed, and it implements classic jobs in a new way! And by the sound of it, a really fun way, and it will help give people uniqueness once they reach that point.
Wow Kuro, you've really thought this out, and a system similar to what you've described would be great in the long run.

=D I'm just saying...
Final Fantasy doesn't need predefined classes (e.g This class will be used for tanking).
And please no. The moment this game gets this 'talent' BS that WoW and Rift have, the moment it loses everything unique to it.
Seriously :| Talents are just so terrible :]
On the way.![]()
they mentioned nothing like what Kuro described. They mentioned nothing about talent trees, point distribution within jobs or what function jobs have. Right now it just sounds like a Title that grants a special bonus while active.
I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.
