You need to fix whatever is causing lag at 8:00 EVERY SINGLE NIGHT

If this is not fixed by the time my subscription lapses then i'm not renewing. This has already lead to numerous problems and drama.

We have people from different states on different service providers all with 30mbps, 50mbps, 90mbs! connections seeing lag EVERY NIGHT at 8:00 central time.

    Please fix it.

This is typically an issue in route and not at the endpoint. It's triggered by ramped up latency/loss from congestion. Bandwidth is not a factor once you cross 2-3mb/sec....the game typically won't be transferring more then that much data back and forth to your client.

This is something you need to take up with your ISP's Tier3 department, as they are best equipped to investigate/pursue congestion issues occurring within their networks or with their peering/transit partners....not Square-Enix.

We've got multiple people with different ISPs in different states all experiencing the issue at the exact same time every single night (around 8:00 cst). I can hop on another game and I won't be experiencing any latency issues.

In any case I will be contacting my ISp but I think it would be in squares best intrest to figure out what's going on when such a large number of people are having these issues.

Thank´s for that link, saves me much explanation... that basically sums up what´s wrong with the Internet today...

Since Net-neutrality is a big point (and even thou suffering from that situation - i wouldn´t want it changed) there are your small sized Gaming-Data-Chunks mixed in to people watching Netflix, Youtube, or spamming the world with Videos on Facebook of them droping the birthday cake...

It´s like Rush Hour in NY, but as a good old saying states... you are not in, you are the traffic jam xD

It´s sad, as you can´t fully blame SE on it due to their dependence on others in this case...

Having massive lag spikes every night as well. Internet works fine, other games are fine, only FF is lagging (followed by crashing) every few seconds.

Went to SCOB with a bunch of pugs yesterday, they were experiencing lag spikes as well.

Just switch ISPs if you can, it will save you lots of headache. I was having exact symptoms and switched and now good to go. As SE will tell you when you call them, "servers are fine".

^ That isn't a viable option for me right now, and I don't think it's an ISP issue. I had them check my line and connection and it works just fine. I have no issues with any other games or even surfing for that matter.

The only lag issues I have come from FFXIV and MogStation. It took me 5 minutes to load into a map, and dc within 1 minute from seeing my char. MogStation took almost 10 minutes to load, with an additional 5-10 minutes to register my login.

Furthermore, I went to SCOB with a bunch of pugs (all of us from different areas using different ISPs) and all of us either lagged terribly or the line got dropped. So I really don't think it's client side now.

I have tried using programs (VPN-like) to connect from other countries (sorry if I got the technical terms wrong cos I'm really a computer idiot) and it's still not working.

This is actually the second time I'm having such an issue and it's not my ISP this time.

It typically isn't your local connection having issues, but one between you and SE's servers. When you call in and they check your "connection", they are often only looking at your local nodes/gateways--not ones in another city/state/country, nor their peering/transit partners--where we see a lot of this happening, around the ipx to their routing partners. You need to be dealing with tier 3 support, who can look at all of your route and not just what is near your location.

Go back and read the article that was linked. If it still doesn't click, read the level3 blog post they quoted...didn't notice if they provided a link, but you can google "level3.net chicken" and get a hit to it (something about "observances of a middleman" I think), and a couple others from the leve3 blog. If the maps/info there still don't illustrate it well enough, try looking at some of the maps at www.downdetector.com/companies.

Get traces to the IP your client connects to...it may show you where your route is becoming unstable. Forward them to your ISP's tier 3 support for analysis...they are the ones with the resources and the responsibility to maintain reliable routing for you.

If all that is out of your comfort zone, you can forward the lobby server names for them to work with... If their tier 3 guys are worth their salary the can and should be able to clean things up for you considerably.

(odd numbers are JP, even is NA)

As always, be sure to do your part to verify there aren't issues local to your system (drivers, no malware or background processes interfering, sufficient power supply and cooling, etc.)
