What about gladiator? Still feeling pidgeonholed as a tank/paladin. I remember reading this:

"Gladiators specialize in the handling of all manner of one–handed blades, from daggers to longswords, be they single– or double–edged, straight or curved. A defining characteristic of the guild is its emphasis on diverse combat tactics, training its members to bring their martial skills to bear in any situation.
As such, there are practitioners who marry sword with shield, seeking to defend their fellow companions. Others opt for an empty off hand, choosing instead to focus entirely on their sword arm. The gladiator’s proficiency with blades also extends to those hurled at range, such as throwing knives."

What ever happened to the bold part ey? I think gladiator attack potencies should be increased when there is no shield equipped.

Also with the patch, things look great. Cept I think they should have increased the potency of brandish/II as well. Or brandish instead of storm's path since path is a tanking ability, that now only mrd can use.

That's not a bad idea, but would likely lead to even more pigeonholing, "looking for GLA, shieldless GLA need not apply."

Also, S-E's lore is sometimes at odds with how players end up using jobs/classes, the most famous example being Ninja in FFXI, who was billed as a DD/debuffer, and ended up being the go-to tank.

Glad's are only used as tanks right now because SE failed to follow the lore they created. Same with Nin. If i got extra damage by not equipping a shield everything would be hunky dory. I think its time they take another look at what they wrote.

Unless you want Conj to be made tanks, Gladiators to be made healers, and pugilists to to use jokes as a form of attack, Which would all be valid since all the rules will drasticly change right? While they're at it, Miqo'te can become a carnivorous race that rules over all the others, making them no more than mere food slaves.

good point and one people fail to see daily.

Yes we want changes but only for the stuff that did not work. not for the stuff that was fun and reason why we picked a job or craft and ranked it for a year. That good stuff needs to stay.

I voted for it too, but for them to change things that would be very good and things that currently make a whole lot of sense would be very wrong.

Like is said if SE wants GLA to be tanks only it's their choice cause ppl voted for change
