Out of curiosity, would PLD gears be compatible with WAR's attributes requirement - - Are they both able to share the same set of gears? Exclude weapon, of cause.
They have access to the same gear, but we've learned that the PLD doesn't need to pursue parry as a serious concern; with a good shield, a PLD can depend on block. WAR only has parry, but most WARs don't pursue it because they'd rather focus on DPS (them big numbers on inner beast during unchained/berserk combo are intoxicating) and leave their HP to defiance, inner beasts, and their healers.

I've leveled both and I personally prefer WAR.

PAL was so difficult to level in the early dungeons for me, I'd stay on top of my rotation, flash, and provoke until kingdom come and I still had problems keeping consistent hate on everything that was thrown at my group...the struggle was real. There are a couple in my fc who main PAL's and they are such awesome tanks and know the class so well. The damage mitigation tools of the PAL easily make up for their lack of a massive tank health pool. I main a SCH and the PAL and SCH work so well together.

WAR is a nice brute force play style that can take the hits AND give them out, with a heavy reliance on class competence to be able to use skill combos to work with a large health pool to be able to mitigate damage. My advice is try both and see what play style you prefer.

That being said, I look forward to the dark knight's play style and how it differs from these two :O

WAR gets 25% more HP, while receiving 20% more healing.

I have both tank jobs at i110, and have Nexus on my WAR. I can easily say that WAR is more more fun and rewarding to play. PLD takes very little effort to play correctly.

If you're looking for a nice, solid, easy tank job, then play PLD. If you enjoy tank jobs that require more than popping a few CDs every now and then, play WAR.

Well, this does seem to be the general consensus. Which is good to know! Thinking it may be best to work with PLD more until I get the hang of tanking, maybe get it around the level that will get the cross class skill provoke, then give WAR a try. I jump around sometimes.

I wasn't knocking PLD in my previous post, btw. After reading over it, I feel like it looked like I was. PLD is a very effective tank job, both are. I started in 2.0 as PLD and loved it. It wasn't until I got my WAR to 50 that I realized how much more enjoyable and rewarding it was to play WAR effectively.

You might find yourself loving PLD, or you might be like me and think WAR is much more fun to play. Whichever you pick, they're both perfectly capable of clearing every piece of content in the game. People that think one is better than the other, simply have no clue what they're talking about.

Having level up both Tank Job, I find that War is more fun to play then Paladin. Also for Tanking Dungeon and large pull I find War is a lot easier and less stressful because of Overpower. Paladin you have to flash, flash, scorn, fast blade, savage blade to get MP back, rotate between mob, etc.

They both served their purpose. For Boss Tanking, Paladin will shine, for Dungeon and large pull War make it quick and easy. Not to say that War can tank boss well too, but Paladin is more safe especially in 2nd Coil Turn 8 where you single tank and boss and dread hit like a truck.

I noticed that about trying to keep/get aggro with PLD while doing some low level guildheists. Then again, I didn't have a whole lot of skills at the time, so I figured eventually it would be easier. Or I would get used to it. Thank you for your opinions too!

Active tank, most of the abilities and CD work without you worrying about anything. If you want ease, go paladin.

Reactive tank, depending on what/and how much is hitting you, you need to pop and do certain abilities to survive and mitigate damage. If you want fun and slightly, just slightly more challenging tank, go warrior.

I don't want to spoil the story for you on either so can't comment on those since you are only level 15 on both.
