Exactly my point. This is why I tend to list in smaller stacks at a higher price. They always sell. :P

His point is that the buyer needs to find the package size that suits him. He should not be able to rip open any package and cherrypick. Its nightmarish for sellers and their inventory.

Youll find that sellers only sell in package sizes that are in demand. Its a non issue.

my post was SO far over your head right?

That was not at ALL what I was coming at. I said people are used to calling a place where people sell their stuff auction house from previous games. They still call it that, it does not mean they did not realize it is something different. They are just used to that term and even if someone says auction house, everyone knows what they mean and only the special snowflakes go on a rant that it is called market place.

Tell you what. FFXI's auction house has as much in common with term auction house as the marketplace in FFXIV. Never was a thing for auction, it was a marketplace where you guessed the price in terms of previous sales.

I'm a seller and I find that lower stacks fly off the shelf like hot cookies while the stacks of 99 tend to rot about.

If I only need 1 piece of say... lumber... to make a tool, I won't be buying a stack of 99 just to have it rot about in my inventory. To use your own words, it's nightmarish for buyers' and their inventories (not to mention pockets because not everyone is swimming in millions of gil).

Exactly! Do you go to the store and pick up a pack of 12 dinner rolls, think to yourself that you only need 2, and tear the package open to take those two out? No, you have to buy the package of 12 and use them as you need them.

Exactly, which is why if I *do* list a stack of 99, I'll list at a discounted price per piece to entice someone that may use that item often to buy it in bulk so that I can simply get it out of my hair. I really don't do it often, though. :3

I craft a lot, so if I happen to need ore or logs and don't feel like gathering, I will buy entire stacks to use. *shrug*

As the economy stands now, farming is worthless, crafting is worthless, and the games economic is bankrupt.
Yeah please keep believing that, it means I will have less competition to win markets.

I've seen people do that with Soft and Alcoholic drinks and other things that have individual price markings.

The only ones who would loose out from a "Buying off the stack" change are those players who sell stacks of 99 at reasonable price X per piece and also sell smaller or individual stacks at inflated price 2X, 5X, or 10X per piece.

Many times mats that I have need only a few of that are listed in a stack of 99. I'll buy the stack use what I need, then resell the rest at a higher price (depending on how much I used). Usually end up breaking even or maybe a few gil in the red, but its still cheaper. Made a ton of gil off oak lumber in which I only needed a few pieces but had to buy 99, made more than 5 times my money back. Thats why it needs to stay a free market, know how to manipulate it and you will walk away richer.

also changing the stack amount u may place up for action from 100-1000 reduce this number to stacks of 12 Max. This would increase the value greatly of what the item is worth and everyone would benefit from it. Also change the Number of items that can be placed up for auction at 1 time and reduce that number to 7 items only this would allow all players to have a high chance for there items to be sold without flooding the ah with similar items making it worthless. It would increase the variety of items being sold at a much more higher price.
