Overhauling the Auction House system

I actually have taken advantage of these from time to time... Noticed one undercutting me by 100 about every 5 minutes after I lowered mine. Finally I lowered it to 1 Gil above vendor, waited and saw they lowered it to 99 below vendor (^.^), bought their item and sold it myself at a profit... Bots are dumb that way...

There's nothing wrong with the MB, it's fine the way it is if you know how to use it properly. The only problem I see is in between patches when many people take a vacation from playing until the next update and there is a flood of crafters still trying to make money when there are no buyers. It's basic supply and demand. When there are too many crafters crafting the same items and there are no buyers then, yes, there will be a lot of undercutting to get the next sale. This was a huge problem before patch 2.2 but there also wasn't a large variety of items like there is now. Still though, if you want to make money you have to be flexible on the items you sell. In slow times like now, basic crafting mats still will sell. You just need to keep an eye on the market and see whats working on what is not. Once 2.4 hits things will certainly pick up again.

Market? Yes. Potentially flawed for reasons of I wouldn't expect people to buy an entire stand of apples? Also yes. Not an auction house (praise the Mother Crystal); it's a market. It's the system we have. Stop begging/whining/griping/tl;dr begging for an auction house like other games have.

As the economy stands now,farming is worthless,crafting is worthless, and the games economic is bankrupt. The only thing of value right now is Matera. Cant have just one item type that has a high value while everything else is worthless this will destroy the economy wich is what we are seeing now. Implementing this idea would solve a lot of problems and allow the economy to stabilize and grow and everyone would win Except the gill sellers. Right now gill-sellers are loving what's going on right now because it is very easy to control the market by undercutting items and jacking up prices so that they can monopolise the AH 24/7, the economy will never recover at this rate. A realm Reborn held the recored at launch with its incredibly high numbers of subscribers, would be a shame to see the game spiral down the toilet because the games economy blows, because players will eventually get fed up and quite frankly some of them have already.

Erm, no. I've made several million in the past week through a combination of farming, crafting, and materia.

Overall, I've actually made more from farming and crafting than materia.

If people are gonna quit, they're gonna quit. Anyone that says the game's economy is terrible and it's hard to make money just hasn't really tried hard enough. There are plenty of things that are easy to farm that sell like crazy.

If you wanna fix the Auction house all they need to do is basically this.

1.Stop letting monsters drop so easy.
2. Make things rare drops and make ore more expensive in grand company and those new day missions in north shroud
3. Stop selling items at merchants and let them drop on monsters or farming them from tree's
4. Make a failure rate on chopping trees and mining ore I believe it shouldn't be 100% unless its for the timed spots.
5. Remove retainer names and HQ item names from the items.
This would make crafting worth it, make people have to go out instead of buying stuff from Auction house and npc's and work to make money instead of handing it to them.

which will make prices go up in Auction house and less people will undercut and less items on the auction house which means people will buy when its up or make money when they have a item.

We don't have an Auction house, we have a market board.

So how do you propose to change something that doesn't exist?
