Summoner and Scholar... though outside of PVP my main class progression-wise is Bard followed by Summoner, and it's Bard and Dragoon that I'm buying Hellwolf gear for even though I don't PVP with them. Got lvl 34 last night so I'm finally able to equip some of the stuff I bought many ranks ago before I capped on Wolfmarks.
Generally I start as Summoner because I can wreak the most havoc on that class. If I join a team with no healers or just one, I'll usually go SCH and do well enough there, but if I get a party that is too busy chasing around their own lone targets out of range of the objective and can't be bothered to go after the one target in a group I mark/announce as being the main interrupter of my healing spells- the way I look at it is I queued in as a DPS and I can sure as hell swap back to being a DPS. It's not too often I get a party that bad though where everyone's treating it as their own one-vs-one PVP encounter and expecting me to chase them out of range of the flag to heal them. But sometimes I will go on 'healer strike' and only do SMN when I've had enough.
I haven't PvP'd a lot yet, but I'd only go with Monk since I don't really like any of the other classes. ;\
I play as Paladin mostly but go White Mage if my team has some tanks and not enough healers.
Call me weird but I like to go as GLA or MRD. Works extremely well and I have the versatility to adapt to multiple situations with the added plus of extreme burst damage ^_^
I can understand how you you would play as a marauder, but I'm wondering how gladiator works. Are extra cross class skills worth losing some very good job abilities like Cover and Spirits Within?
Well, from r1-r35 i did strictly SCH. Loved it in FL for being able to keep my party alive while killing (clericstance) anyone who tried to 1v1 me. And in WD SCH was damn near unkillable if you did not have a well coordinated team. I did PLD for a bit then went to MNK to try something with alittle bit more......punch to it and hit harder then my PLD. However, i have since went back to PLD after respecing all my points into STR and slapping on some STR accessories. Now my PLD is great, most people completely ignore me which is all the time i need to take down a mage or 2 before they catch on. Also started using SCH again and slapped on some VIT accessories, nothing better then surviving a melee's LB then Lustrating back to full hp.
Yea, with the removal of Cleric Stance (RIP) my Sch game has been dull.. Spamming Wolves Den way before Frontlines I learned to become a very aggressive healer solely because of that skill and I feel that was apart of my game. I mean I love Sch but the fun doesnt seem there anymore so now I lean more towards Smn. I Drg sometimes but I'm waiting for Wolves Den to become the thing again so I can spend more time on Drg.
I do miss not having cover and Spirits but most of the time those skills don't help as much as I would have liked them too. HG is amazing but most of the time you're dead either way and with the delay it has... The amount of times I've tried to use it and It activating afterwards is stupid. Are extra cross class skills worth losing some very good job abilities like Cover and Spirits Within?
I'm still experimenting right now on the cross class abilities but having B4B / Internal release / Raging strikes and FoF ready to pop for a huge burst helps tremendously, healers don't stand a chance since I can still stun lock and dps at the same time, Other skills like straight shot give a 10% crit rate increase is nice to have too and having invigorate ready for when I need to play Mario Kart with a healer is awesome.
Don't get me wrong, It's a big gamble but for my play-style (Agressive) It's working great!
Try it out!
Full on whm with vit acc gears
