Have they said how many wards will they add in 2.4?

If I can't buy one because everything is sold out 30 minutes after 2.4 is live (again) I'm going to be very pissed...

If they wanted to make housing something so exclusive, they shouldn't have attached features with real utility outside cosmetic purposes such as gardening... what's the point of implementing such features if 90% of the people don't even have access to it...

I just hope they don't mess up this time...

They're probably going to add 2 wards with those patches that they choose to add wards. It is my guess that is how they will proceed.

Honestly OP I would just prepare myself for the worst if I were you. I am in the same boat I would like to get a small house for my alt but at the same time I'm not getting my hopes up because there is probably going to be a rush to get them now that ppl know what to expect with it, they're saving up & planning how they are going to get their plot.

I'm going to try to get the plot I want but I'm pretty sure that:
A. They're gonna get bought quicker then I can get to them
or
B. There just wont be enough wards in general

Good luck on obtaining your house though! (Even though I shouldn't HAVE to wish you luck cause its personal housing & you should not have to fight for it -_-)

I have some vague recollection about them saying that they're "doubling" the wards. This sounded more like they were making wards bigger rather than adding additional full wards. Not sure if that's true or not. Given the blow back they got over personal housing, I think they're keeping quiet on it all.

In the future, we plan to be able to double the total land for all existing housing wards, including the two new wards, in Patch 2.4 with the system changes that we are currently working on.
(Basically, the number of wards available now will be doubled in Patch 2.4).

With our current schedule for stability checks, it’s going to be difficult to add this in time for the release of Patch 2.4, but both the server and housing teams are working as hard as they can to make it possible. Once again, I’d like to share my sincerest apologies to all our players who have been unable to purchase land in the latest patch. Please hold on for another month or so until the release of Patch 2.4.

That could be interpreted a few different ways the way it's written, and given that this is SEnglish, I wouldn't be surprised if what they're actually planning doesn't quite fall in line with even one of those interpretations.

Better take a day off if you want a house. Seriously though, it's just ridiculous that there aren't enough houses for everyone. I'm not sure how they thought this would be a good idea.

I don't even have money to buy a house. I'm saving up, but with the way things are, it seems like I'll never get one. By the time I save enough, all the wards will be full. If they keep releasing it like this, ward by ward, all I can do is wave at the houses and feel like it's a pipe dream. (btw I only have like 1.3 mil. help me I'm poor.)

My FC has a little over 3 mil. We decided a while back just to save for a big house instead of wasting money and efforts on a small just to upgrade later and lose out. We're a small FC so our efforts don't really go a long way. But between the chocobo stables and gardening being tied to housing, maybe we should get a small one so at least we have that. idek anymore.

How I would interpret that is that they intend to not only expand the current wards, but also add two additional wards.

People may have to consider getting a house in a district that they don't want (ie: the Goblet, nobody likes the Goblet).

Awesome! Thanks for that. I think you are right and we can guarantee that it won't fall in line with anything we're thinking or hoping. He used a lot of vague language ("plan to") which supports your point, as does the mention of server stability.

I call myself skeptical about this bit from him:

I really hope that he learned his lesson and actually does this.

Just give us a common area to garden and stable chocos. Hell, give us back Mog Houses! Id rather have one of those and flowerpots, instead of the current setup. THey just don't have the technical capacity to give everyone a house. They aren't going to do it, its not going to happen. They would have to spend megabucks to even begin to meet housing demands as they currently stand. So they aren't. SE is not fully committed to FFXIV, so they are going to cut corners when and where they can. Fair enough. I cant have a house, give us another way to have access to gardening and choco stabling, and I could happily forget the entire housing debacle. I cant speak for everyone, but for myself, I want to be able to garden, I want to stable and train my choco, now THAT should be doable, and much cheaper than providing plots for everyone I think.
