And you know what these people on farm status want? They want a "no newbies allowed" checkbox. They say, if you never cleared it before, then they don't want you there to slow them down. I don't know how people can think they are so special, that they are allowed to treat newer players with contempt like that.

Please leave this nonsense in that other thread. No one is trying to "farm" content like Tam Tara HM, nor are there any exacting mechanics that wipe the party back to the beginning of the entire duty.

People want to farm tam-tara just as well as anything else. The farmers just want to speed run and don't want to deal with the newer people. If you want to farm, form your own farming static and stop abusing the newer players. You are not entitled to having the system find you a fast clear/farm party whenever you want. People are NOT there for you take for granted and expected to show up at your beck and call. People with attitudes like that, will abuse the DF and PF, and run over, and thru the newer players, or complain about them slowing down or wiping the run.

There is nothing misleading. The green leaf could be someone's alt or smurf for all that matters. People need the opportunity for more practice is all. People can be more considerate whether there is a green sprout or not.

Tam-tara HM probably wasn't the tank's first dungeon either, but they will have to try it at some point, and may have already don tam-tara a couple times. But it take time to practice and get used to things and then improve from there.

If your going to try leaning a new class and run with the big dogs by playing hard mode dungeons, expect some backlash. I know I would.

This should not be the default, nor should this be the reasonable expectation. People should be more consider of the newer players, and beside who is so special to the "big dogs"? What did they do that allows them to treat other badly? They just forgot once upon a time, they were messing up and other people had to put with them. I know BLMs and BRDs that thought they wanted to get highest value on the aggro meter meant they were doing their job best, until they tried to do tanking and learned otherwise. The tanks that put with crap like this was just taken for granted and many of them never even complained, but people forget, and they think it is ok to abuse others. To them it is always someone else's fault instead of their own. Newbies/newer players that don't know enough to do anything about it are often just the easy prey, for big bad wolf.

Just saying I would think that someone running hard mode would atleast know what they are doing. And if they don't other players may see it as ruining it for them. Not saying that is what I would do, but playing as a tank I have encountered this many times, so I know what its like, when you don't meet peoples expectations. Playing as a tank you do need some thick skin. Not saying that is right, but the sad reality is its what happens and there isn't much going to change about that.

Similar thing happened yesterday. Was watching my cousin play as a tank (he was new to tanking) and the dps were pulling hate like no tomorrow. I felt bad for him, so I gave him some pointers (Overpower, positioning, etc.). Luckily the other members were patient with him.

If you are learning the ropes to a new class, expect criticism and learn to adapt. This is more noticable for healers and tanks that are starting off. It takes practice, and eventually they'll get there. The 'backlash' mentioned probably also meant that mistakes may happen when learning, not the fact that people complain.

It is the same topic. People are treating "newbies and newer players badly" and that needs to stop. The "no newbies wanted" check box are dreamed up by people want to treat the newbies and newer players badly.

Who are you to criticize? How about expect guidance, encouragement, and advice? And not the type of advice that starts with cussing people out.

As for the criticism, it can go both ways. Some people may give constructive criticism, and some may just yell at you. At the end of the day, criticism helps people to learn from their mistakes. It's not an entirely bad thing per say. Without it, you'd just be going in blind with no improvement because nobody tells you otherwise.

I see criticism as a way to improve and as a learning experience, no matter how it was received. If someone yelled at me, then I obviously did something I shouldn't have. If someone nudged me and gave some advice, I can take that advice and learn from it. You're really making it sound like any sort of criticism is bad.

Be considerate means you take into account the larger picture and be considerate of multiple facets. The "no newbies wanted" check box is one example of people not being considerate. And yelling at people is also NOT being considerate. People a playing the game trying to get along, and they are not looking for performance review, and they are certainly not looking to get criticism constructive or otherwise. Provide gentle guidance, support, encouragement, and advice. It will work much better.
