It wasn't all rainbows and unicorns. Actually quite the opposite.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

BLM is the main thing holding this back as far as magic resistance wheel, along with the Slashing, Piercing, and Blunt? resistance.

People say they cant rework a whole class, but that has happened in many games along with FFXI. Its possible, but only at 3.0 I'd say.

Again, the job BLM has always been would be the master of Fire, Thunder and Blizzard spells. Which it just so happens to be in XIV. In games with the elemental wheel, excluding FFX, it was always more beneficial to cast your strongest spell as opposed to the elementally appropriate one assuming the spell wouldn't heal the enemy or the enemy in question happened to have a specifically high resistance. Even in FFXI.

I find BLM a lot more fun and engaging now than FFXI's BLM. It has a mechanic and a use for every spell. Giving them every element will see them getting bloated with skills that they won't even use except for very specific elementally appropriate fights. In Ifrit for example you will only use (using your toggle idea) tier 1 and tier 3 spells of whatever is strong to fire in this game and tier 1 and tier 3 spells of whatever is elementally neutral in this game. 4 spells, as usual but now you have 8 spells just sitting there which have absolutely no use in the fight (before you count all the AoE spells too).

And I'm rather curious now. You say Ifrit would be weak to Water and Ice but then say Fire melts Ice. Which is it then?
