i would guess that is her LB, or 2hr, as XI ppl like to call it.
there seems to be a few small safe zones, though.

stairs are out of battle area, on the video you see the lala stopped by an invisible wall when he try to go downstairs

maybe the purple flames are a nod to the purple mote in 7? is an odd color to pick twice :P and there is a circle in the middle of both.

Most people use third person from a over top view so it wouldn't be difficult...if you're having issues just zoom out.
