Both get their own set of damage dealing spells. White Mage AoE is more bursty, but not sustainable. Scholar AoE is still quite significant up to 4 targets, in fact and is more sustainable. White Mage cannot sustain single target DPS either if they are required to heal every now and then. Scholars are perfectly capable of being permanently in Cleric's Stance in a similar situation and deal sustained single target damage as well.
When done properly, Scholars deal 160 potency every 3 seconds on only DoTs where White Mage only deal 65 potency worth within the same time frame. Ruin (II) does not possess the same potency as Stone II. Energy Drain, however, does. Ruin II weaving with Energy Drain will out-do Stone II easily. A White Mage cannot keep casting Stone II either. Unlike a Scholar, who has a fairy with 300 potency heals every 3 seconds, 420 even with Rouse up and can toss out a lustrate when necessary.
In AoE situations, scholars can deal 170 potency every 3 seconds on just DoTs up to four targets and while spamming Blizzard II you'll do 50 potency worth of damage on each target with a mere 2 second casting time. Holy cannot be sustained, as mentioned before, due to the high MP cost. In practice you'll cast holy 4 or 5 times at most. After the 4th holy the stunlock starts being resisted and you have to start healing. A scholar can stay in cleric's stance for an extended period simply due to the fairy and lustrate. With some pulls with just the fairy even.
So that was some low level/low skill content, let's go to the higher level content:
Caster accuracy cap is at 471, meaning when Healers want to deal some damage in this case there's a good chance to miss. Interestingly enough, Bio and Bio II do not miss and neither does Bane when the DoTs are already applied. Stone, Stone II, Aero, Aero II, Fluid Aura and Holy can all miss and are MP inefficient compared to a scholar. White Mages are also more prone to depleting their MP. White Mages only get 1090 MP back every 2 minutes with Shroud while a Scholar can get 20% of their maximum MP back with just Aetherflow every minute. Any stack spend on Energy Drain recovers even more MP. Oh, and Holy in SCoB? That doesn't even get used because AoE is neglectable in turn 6 to 9. Ah but yes, because White Mage get a spell that's useful in more casual content, scholars should get something in the same Category. I mean, it's not like Scholars damage spells are more viable and/or reliable in SCoB than a White Mages... Right?
Stop comparing White Mages with Scholars, it's almost embarrassing to even retort to your whiny posts. Scholars have their obvious advantages with their skill-/spell set and so do White Mages.

It would be nice if we got a new fairy. We could even have a back story as to how we aquire our new friend.
It would be a shame if we where to be left out.

Not a big fan, but a dps fairy may work as long as that fairy can't heal. By sacrificing healing/ support abilities SCH can have a dps fairy, but must work a bit hard at healing. In other words, it'll be like healing without a fairy. Do able with trash mobs, but difficult in boss battles
